This was my father’s favorite so I listened to it often. Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller.

He still has a nice record collection of the era that I hope to get my hands on soon.

I love that kind of music. How you can get one song out of your head is to listen to several others in a row.

Yes, very much. My mother grew up during that era and so by proxy, I did too. All of that was played on the stereo all the time. My mom taught me how to dance to it. I still listen to it a lot and play it for her when we visit her at the nursing home.

Chattanooga Choo Choo is a bit hokey to me, but there are other tune from that time that I enjoy listening to occasionally, like In The Mood and Stardust. The music has an upbeat quality. In general the tunes are better without the words.

Yes, I’m a massive fan of jazz music!

Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Jordan, Gene Krupa, Chick Webb, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Sidney Bechet, Dizzy Gillespie, etc.

However, I’ve never liked the corniness of Glenn Miller, especially Chattanooga Choo Choo.

I like a lot of it, especially this favorite by Bunny Berrigan.

Yes, my dad listened to it all the time. And so I developed a taste for it. I really like it. Artie Shaw, Gene Kruppa, Glenn Miller.

My iPod has a huge variety of songs, including Glenn Miller, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Elsie Carmichael, right thru to Lordes, Gothe, and Carine Bailey Rae.

Depends on the song, but yes. Also (or even moreso) some of the music before that.

Oh yes! I love Benny Goodman, especially, and all of those guys. My folks had some of those records, as did my grandparents, so I listened to a lot of that, and loved it, as a kid.

rock n roll smothered it all. But the Great American Songbook still wafts through our dreams.

Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and on into the swing/crooners of Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason….Yeah, I’m a sucker for that kinda music.
