Any ideas on preventing a couch from sliding around on carpet?

Asked by flip86 (6213points) January 7th, 2018

The way my living room is set up, puts the couch in the middle of the floor instead of against a wall. This creates the problem of the sliding couch. Any ideas to prevent it from sliding on the carpet?

My mother used some plastic coasters with little teeth that dug into the carpet and kept the furniture from moving. But this sounds better than hers. http://www.stayfurnituregrippers.com/Made-in-the-USA--Order-Your-STAY-Furniture-Grippers-Today_ep_43-1.html

There are a lot of options. Search for “furniture grippers for carpet”

At fabric stores, they have sheets of rubber/plastic you can place under the feet.

If the couch has feet, remove them. That will create a much larger surface area, that will increase friction exponentially…
