What do you think of Meghan Markle's attitude towards her family?

Asked by LornaLove (10037points) April 4th, 2018

The big day is drawing near, where Meghan Markle will marry Prince Harry and some newspapers report that the not so modest wedding will cost around £22 million. They’ve had all sorts of memorabilia made for the big day, including flags, tea sets, dinner sets, you get the picture?

She comes across as very humanitarian, caring, loving, and even hugs people in the streets, which is actually against royal protocol, perhaps she will be the new Princess Diana?

Sadly though she seems to have disowned most of the members of her family, including her step-brother. Is she as humanitarian as she projects? Is it fake? Do you think she is just loving the fame of it? Or, do you think she will make an excellent change to the royal family since has already told Harry she is wearing the pants in their family! Any thoughts?

*Edit: Half brother not step-brother.

I’m not a royalist and I would like to see the whole concept cast into the rubbish bin of history. In the meantime Megan Markle is like a ray of sunshine straying into the dark recesses of Buckingham Palace.

If someone has estranged themself from family members, there is, very likely, a sad story which is not anybody’s business but their own.

It is a very painful, very difficult thing to do (I speak from experience) so judging a stranger harshly for doing such a thing is inappropriate.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking that one owes their family some kind of allegiance simply because they are family.

^I agree. Never thought that would happen. :-)

“Is she as humanitarian as she projects?”
In this day and age of social media and fake nice your guess is as good as mine. I’m guessing fake as hell.

They basically agree to all the nice persona stuff when they want to marry a royal. Frankly I don’t believe for one second we see their personal side, any of them, except maybe Queen E. I guess the money and Harry and the lifestyle are worth leaving your family behind, who knows.

@canidmajor Where did I judge her exactly? If that was directed at me, that was unclear? It was a neutral question with a few ideas thrown around that is on peoples minds here you were welcome to answer as you wished. If that was directed at me, don’t judge so quickly.

Big red Q:
“What do you think of Meghan Markle’s attitude towards her family?”

Set up in last paragraph of details:
“Sadly though she seems to have disowned most of the members of her family, including her step-brother. ”

These things would indicate that her relationship with her family is the focus of your questioning of her humanitarian actions.

And I did not target you, @LornaLove, I would have mentioned you if I had, my statement was general, but since you chose to take offense, don’t you judge so quickly.

@canidmajor Perhaps you are right. I had attempted to write the question in a neutral way in order to garner some great debate.

I was curious. First of all, I realize debates are not around much anymore as there are so few people here.

Second of all perhaps my rotten opinion of her shined through. I find her to be fake, plastic in her appearance, and a money grabbing type of personality with high ambitions. This is evident in her mad shopping sprees already. I also wish she would remove that fake half idiotic smile off of her face. It is so disconcerting and I for once, am happy that the British for the most part of a sour grumpy bunch who dislike her because they are for the most part down to earth and don’t put up with this type of fakery.

Feel free to judge that as much as you wish. Really I couldn’t give a darn.

She sounds like the perfect person to join the British royals then. Superfluous people representing a superfluous institution. Their role is to sell the fairy tale that they’re still relevant to modern Britain. The whole thing rests upon artifice now. God knows the British monarch doesn’t have any actual power anymore.

@Darth_Algar Too true. The British public fund the Queen at £36 Million a year. It is a farce. However, I bet an actress would love to be part of the farce.
