Eight week online Java cerfitcate from Robertson College not offered this year. Please just find me a good free online Java YouTube videos that worked for you? Also how do I purchase a Java and all its parts for use with a Chromebook? Or should I purchase a better laptop? I just bought a Chromebook last month and will have to save money to buy a new laptop.

For fun and personal use.. not looking for a job in Microsoft. Want to design pre level 1 d&d like game. To play from level 0 to level 1.

Doesn’t have to be Java.

I don’t know about the college you’re referring to but Pluralsight is good site if you want to learn online. It offers various courses in software development for affordable monthly fee. You won’t get any degree as such but can learn many things on your own.

@imrainmaker pluralsight on YouTube lead me to treehouse. Will pay my credit card off first and ask around for references to treehouse before putting $25 a month on it.

There are plenty of free tutorials, like this one from Udemy. Stop putting off doing things.

Java is not from Microsoft. Microsoft offers variations on the C language, like C++ and C#.

I would recommend Python over Java. I think it is easier to learn and it has unseated Java as the most widely taught programming language. I came across this book, which is aimed at beginners, but focuses on games.

Pluralsight is right here and different than Treehouse. Take a look, they cover a really wide range of topics.

Here’s a guide to getting a code environment on a chromebook. None of the options available are perfect, but they can get you started without having to save for a new computer.

Pick one and stick to it for 8 weeks like you would the courses, then you’ll have a better idea what you want to do next. Part of the learning is learning to complete something.
