What is the difference between True Cinema and off on Sony TVs?

Asked by TheWebofDreams (84points) May 6th, 2018

I was told that either of them turn off the Soap Opera Effect but then I was told that turning Cinemotion/film Mode to Off creates that Cinematic look but turning it on high or medium creates the SOE.

Another guy told it was the opposite.

So who is right? My Panel is the X930E.

Simply try the settings. Last TV I had came with the worst “soap opera” effect but tweaking the settings made it perfect. The soap opera effect is where your TV does a lot of digital signal processing that increases the frame rate. While it makes the pictures more lifelike it’s not what you are used to seeing. Those extra frames are not real they are interpolated from others so to some people it actually looks synthetic. To reduce the effect turn down any interpolation settings. Try turning off cinemotion & motionflow

Yeah but what is the true cinema mode for? It sounds as if it is the same as off.
