Do you know novels of the 21st century with the most dangerous, deadliest conspiracy plots, murders, deceptions, mind games, etc.?

I would suggest Haruki Murakami, especially The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and 1Q84. These works not only meet the above criteria; they are also deeply philosophical and ruminative. Please note that the former is a 600-page novel, whereas the latter runs over 900 pages. However, they are terrific books, in my opinion.
