How close have you ever been to winning the lotto?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24453points) May 28th, 2018

I got 4 out of 6 numbers today. The prize was $1 million Canadian dollars. On max millions. All I got was a free ticket for some other draw. This time?

As close as you can get without actually buying a ticket.

As close as @Jeruba has gotten.

Unless you win it doesn’t matter!!

If you had four out of the 7 numbers right, you should have won $20.

@zenvelo D’oh thanks for the correction. It was 4 of the 7 max millions numbers, and 3 for the free ticket. The machine said so

I’ve been as close as actually winning a prize though the amount was trivial.

I won something like $37 one time. Enough for a fancy lunch.

Never bet on a game you have not manipulated yourself.

A friend likes to say that the odds of finding a winning ticket on the street are nearly the same as the odds of buying a winning ticket.

Still, I buy a lotto ticket three or four times a year.

I keep them for a long time before looking up the winning numbers. Because holding that potentially life-changing ticket is more fun than discovering it’s worthless.

I used to grab played scratch off tickets that were discarded and enter them in the 2nd chance lottery. People started doing that so regularly that you could not find any so I stopped.

Four of us at work split $6700, that was over thirty years ago.

I never played it.

Husband won $30,000 US. Except for the publication part, it was great.
