Can someone please explain the Matrix for me?

Asked by stratman37 (8691points) August 17th, 2008

I know that the machines are using humans for batteries, and that they made up the Matrix as a simulated life for humans, but after that, the crown of my head starts heating up and I have to stop.

How about IMDB.

Opening excerpt” A phone rings and text appears on the screen: “Call trans opt: received. 2–19-98 13:24:18 REC: Log>” As a conversation takes place between Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Cypher (Joe Pantoliano), two free humans, a table of random green numbers are being scanned and individual numbers selected, creating a series of digits not unlike an ordinary phone number, as if a code is being deciphered or a call is being traced.”

Save some time and don’t watch the two sequels. Just pretend that they never happened.

Well, I love these movies, and there is a lot to them. If you go beyond the core plot, it gets pretty complex and there are a lot of subtleties. I could explain it now, but I need to go to bed for my exam tomorrow… sorry, but maybe tomorrow if someone hasn’t helped, I’ll tell you all about the matrix and why you should probably learn kung fu before the machines take over.

btw, I enjoyed the sequels :)

It’s “Ghost in the Shell” but more Christian. Please watch Ghost in the Shell, and forget all about the Wachowski’s “Ghost in the Shell for dummies” trilogy.

Points if you hated the Matrix and saw Ghost in the Shell and Johnny Mneumonic before walking in the theater. Similarities are incredible, with the latter even starring Keanu Reeves.

The Matrix is an illusion.

It is maintained by some old dude who lives in a room full of TV screens. He is the perfect offspring of the three smartest mathematical geniuses combined into a single organism. Sperm, egg, and who the hell knows what the third being is.

The Matrix is an illusion that is balanced by the old dude. On one side of the scale are the humans. On the other side of the scale are the machines. If the scale is tipping in favor of either side, then the old dude uses some crazy voodoo math shit to make sure the scale doesn’t tip too far.

While the Matrix is an illusion, it was designed to keep the minds of humans preoccupied while the evil machines of the future obtained energy from the bodies of man.

So I guess the purpose of the Matrix is to keep the minds of humans fresh, otherwise they spoil. I also guess that a spoiled brain yields no evil robot energy. Looks like Zombies are on to something… o_O

Dude don’t even bother. There’s like a handfull of people who understand the matrix, they either made the movie or have way too much time on their hands. Everyone else who saw it was just mind fucked. I got the first movie alright but then the second one came out. I was a little lost with that one but I guess I just made some shit up in my head telling myself I totally understood it. And then I saw that third one. Big mistake. It’s like I have no idea what went on. Maybe they should make another movie called Neo explains what the hell is going on.

The whole movie was just a big acid trip. Take the red pill and find out how deep the rabbit hole really goes.^_^

If you have to ask, then you are part of the matrix. Let me help you escape.
