How did she last this long?

Good riddance.

I don’t believe it until I see it. She has lied daily for the last year. Her lack of integrity is only surpassed by her father.

stanleybmanly's avatar

I saw that. The deputy chief of communications is jumping ship along with her. I’m not unhappy with Sanders or anyone else condemned to the job of Trump’s press secretary. The job amounts to a daily attempt to tie a bow on a turd and sell it as fine chocolate. Day after dreary day of standing there with a straight face explaining the reeking turd to a roomful of retching reporters, none of whom buy a word of it through the overpowering stench.

I’m surprised she has dealt with it all this long. I would probably be crying once a week if I were her. The pressure must be incredible.

stanleybmanly's avatar

It has to be the most self debasing job in the realm of public service

I look forward to a book from her. I hope she spills the beans.

zenvelo's avatar

CBS News broke the story earlier today, but Sanders has since denied it.

Aloha – OY!

flutherother's avatar

If Trump’s press secretary has denied it then it is probably true.

Jeruba's avatar

Is the WH’s new strategy to feed the press actual false stories that it can then deny?

If it were up to me to let the punishment fit the crime, I would sentence her to tell the truth for the rest of her life—and not be believed.

2davidc8's avatar

It was to be expected. Even though she seems to deny it now, I still expect it to happen (that she will step down, that is)..

elbanditoroso's avatar

Another one bites the dust. I have the feeling she doesn’t want to go to jail.

LadyMarissa's avatar

@2davidc8 Do you think she’s denying it so Trump cam FIRE her later so both can save face??? Then she can write her book & trump can claim it’s sour grapes…fake news is better than NO press at all!!!

Yellowdog's avatar

Fake news, How can you believe CBS about ANYTHING regarding the Trump family or the White House team? I’d give anything they say about 35–40 percent possible,

By the way, what just about all of you have said, is truly vile and disgusting. Can you imagine Sarah Huckabee Sanders or Mike Huckabee or even Donald Trump using language and references like this?

You are entertained by such and use such references yourselves, It is revealing about your own character.

LadyMarissa's avatar

Trump invented the phrase “fake news”

chyna's avatar

@Yellowdog Trump talking about grabbing women by their pussies is worse than anything anyone in this thread has said. IMHO.

notwonderwoman's avatar

@Yellowdog You have got to be kidding. Trump wouldn’t stoop so low? He’s the master at insults. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/01/28/upshot/donald-trump-twitter-insults.html

flutherother's avatar

Sarah Sanders herself didn’t deny the accuracy of this story so why call it ‘fake news’. She tweeted that CBS ran the story without speaking to her but there was no outright denial.

As David Cay Johnston, author of The Making of Donald Trump, says, she is using a communications strategy that her boss, the president, often relies on.

“Her denial is: ‘I don’t know anything about this.’ She doesn’t say: ‘I’m not leaving’,” Johnston explains. “It’s what we call a non-denial denial.”

Jeruba's avatar

@LadyMarissa, no, he didn’t. He co-opted it and perverted its meaning from “stories invented and passed off as news” (i.e., deliberate lies) to “any media content that I (Trump) don’t like.”

The notion that he did is his own fake news.

The part that I don’t get, because I can’t think like him and never will, is why he still plays to the media and craves their attention after labeling responsible reporting as “fake”—and why anyone is fooled by his selective labeling.

Kardamom's avatar

@Yellowdog, we are just calling a spade a spade. And before you get all in a huff and think that that is a racist statement, that term means calling something exactly what it is.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders lies for a living. The fact checkers point out her lies every single day.

Now for my opinion: I think SHS is a vile creature. She is doing the dirty bidding of Donald Trump, and that makes her as bad, or worse, than he is, because she knows better. Also, I’ll be glad to not have to listen to her her drawl “impordint” when she means important. And the angry eyebrows! Don’t get me started on those.

Yellowdog's avatar

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is always under attack by the press who, by and large, don’t know what’s going on and wants to spin the story a certain way.

“Checkers” don’t count when the only verification is they want to say something else.

The Access tape is over fifteen years old, when Trump was entertaining people like yourselves. Admit it—YOU hate Trump because he represents the conservatives. The Access tape was made in private and never intended to be aired or even filmed.

(Most of) you, on the other hand, are proud of what you are saying and saying it up front.
Boasting it.

You are not calling a spade a spade—you are thinking of the nastiest insults your filthy minds can come up with because you are consumed with hate—and filth is about all you can think up, because things aren’t going your way as you hoped. Donald Trump is to you not a “grabber of pussies” (Jimmy Kimmel has done worse on primetime T,V. and it passed as entertainment)—but Trump is a figurehead of the Reagan-era, Pro-Israel, Judeo-Christian capitalistic constitutional populitsts and constitutional Republicans—and pre-Hillary, pro-workers-party democrats—-whom you believe yourselves superior.

The filth said in the above posts, including your constant references to the Access Hollywood tape, say a lot about your own character. There’s quite a difference between the Huckabee T.V. show and Jimmy Kimmel.

To ALL those who continued on this thread, THANK YOU!!! It was my lunchtime & I was hungry & had to meet a friend for lunch. I had 2 choices…continue to hear my tummy grumble or continue to hear the yellowdog grumble. I chose to have a pleasant lunch with my friend who loves Trump almost as much as I do!!! So, I chose to be happy & I did NOT hear his name until I returned to Fluther!!!

@Jeruba You are correct.I simply chose to post a quick response that would irritate yellowdog. I know he means “vile” as an insult; but I see it as the biggest compliment he can give me because he always calls me vile when he has NO argument to prove me wrong!!! I can see those little puppy dog eyes bulging out as his face turns blood red & he starts screaming. He’s at his cutest when he’s throwing a tantrum!!!

Yellowdog's avatar

BTW—the fake story about SHS was to draw attention away from the fact that the Inspector General’s report is out today—it involves the mishandling of the Hillary Clinton email investigations—and to bury coverage of the negotiations with Kim Jung Un

The Inspector General’s report is heavily edited and redacted by the DOJ to protect the guilty, but still pretty damning.

notwonderwoman's avatar

^I don’t understand how you can be so blind to what a horrible person Trump is. Most Trump supporters I know admit that he’s an awful human being but still support him because of conservative policies. You can’t even admit to the horrible things he’s said and done over the years and then you call the rest of us vile? I swear I’m dreaming all of this. I can’t believe how blind you are.

Yellowdog's avatar

Well, maybe it was only Stanley B—

“The job amounts to a daily attempt to tie a bow on a turd and sell it as fine chocolate. Day after dreary day of standing there with a straight face explaining the reeking turd to a roomful of retching reporters, none of whom buy a word of it through the overpowering stench.”

Most of the rest just accusing Trump of being a mob boss or Sarah being whatever you can throw I guess if that’s all I heard from my media and entertainment I might also only know call her a liar, bitch, whatever . Its just the right thing to do in a polarized and divided world.

notwonderwoman's avatar

We base our opinions on Trump and Sarah from their own words. Nothing more. Quit blaming the media.

Yellowdog's avatar

Why is she always on the defense, under attack?

Why are vile remarks made about her at Whitehouse Press Dinners?

I’ve seen her refuse or refute questions because they were insults or baseless accusations, but I don’t see her up there hurling dirty insults, like Madlyn Murrey O’Hair, at the crowd.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@Yellowdog I think your arguments might carry more force if you could get past the idea that it is blind unreasoning hatred motivating disapproval of Trump. You will notice that I had nothing bad to say about Sanders other than she has a disgusting as well as impossible job. Bow on a turd, lipstick on a pig, the point is she is required to stand there under the pretense her boss is competent and rational. I don’t think there has been a press secretary to date compelled to daily defend what is patently indefensible. Of course it is her job to lie for the jackass, and he works her to death at doing it. The truth is that she’s done as well as can be expected, considering what she has to work with, and I’m not silly enough to blame her for her performance beyond the disgrace inherent in working for the lying sociopath.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Huckabee Sanders should not be an issue for anyone here. If Jesus himself were behind that podium doing her job—passing the turd off as fine chocolate, the scorn and ridicule must still erupt. Some turds are just too offensive and obvious to be spun, and you can call it chocolate if you choose, and @Yellowdog is welcome to as many bites as he cares to take. In the end a turd is a turd.

2davidc8's avatar

@LadyMarissa I’m saying that Sanders probably won’t last long because none of her predecessors in her position in the Trump administration has. The reason? It’s a highly stressful job, made even more so when you don’t know, at any given moment, what the boss wants. One moment he’s going in one direction, the next moment he wants something else. How can you do your job?

LadyMarissa's avatar

I wouldn’t have her job even IF they paid me a million dollars a second!!!

stanleybmanly's avatar

I’d take it for that kind of money, and would actually fly out and browbeat you mercilessly not to turn it down.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@2davidc8 exactly. It is without question the job straight out of hell. With Trump there is no possible spin or defense that would aliow you to stand there without you being stripped of any modicum of self respect.

LostInParadise's avatar

If Sanders leaves, it may be difficult to replace her. The White House is having such a hard time filling positions ordinarily in high demand that they are running a job fair

@Yellowdog Yep, you speak the truth. I’m glad to find the few individuals on this site. There are not many of us.
