Do fish get PTSD (post traumatic stess disorder) after being picked up from a waterspout?

A waterspout to my knowledge is a tornado over the water. Humor welcome.

I doubt it. They don’t seem to think like us.

I would opine that I think most wild animals live in a constant state of fear, and anxiety.

It is relevant to note, that many lakes are stocked by plane. Yes. They fly planes low over lakes, and drop live fish. Look it up.

So. As they are fine being spewed out of a plane, I suspect that they get over a tornado.

Nature has “gifted” most fish, with a short memory.

I have honestly never even contemplated the possibility of piscine psychology.

But there’s that old Zen (or is it Taoist?) story where the fish says, “What’s water?”—meant to point us to awareness of the enlightened consciousness that we’re in the midst of without seeing it.

Maybe once they know the answer, they become better fish.

Are you kidding?
They love the ride.
It is their naturally provided water park.

…they said they don’t think about it.

Part of human intelligence is memory and recall and I do think that a fish has a very short memory and recall ability. PTSD is based mostly on past memory.

they don’t have the mental capacity to have PTSD

I doubt it. But when some Jaws ass shark gets after them, well – wouldn’t that give you PTSD? By the way, you’re gonna need a bigger boat.
