Do you think Meghan Markle is being criticized too much?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) June 19th, 2018

Is it something that was expected? If so what is the reason for this criticism?

Yes; but no more than other famous people. It seems like it’s open season for people of interest. IF they do it, they shouldn’t have; however, IF they didn’t do it, they should have.

I mainly watch retro TV…old shows from my youth…so I had NO clue who Meghan was until I heard about the wedding. I’m just glad that dear ol’ Harry has found his mate & ready to settle down. Anything past that is NONE of my business!!! Actually, even that is NONE of my business!!!

I believe that IF everybody worried as much about themselves as they do about others, we’d have a LOT better world!!!

What is she being criticized for? Everyone seems to adore her from where I sit. I stated my surprise about how parts of the wedding surprised me, and people jumped all over me. Everyone seems very protective of her. I think she is gorgeous, and the newlyweds seem happy and in love to me.

Probably those from the UK would now better than we Americans. I’ve always thought from my history lessons that many of them were from the ‘pure old blood’ set.

I think Megan Markle is a class act. She’s great. But people are going to criticize anyone for any reason; this is probably out of jealousy or just snippishness.

Any criticism of her seems kind of silly. She hasn’t done anything bad yet.

I don’t really care about her one way or the other!!! When I first started hearing much about the wedding, it was when her dad was uninvited & her sister was bad mouthing her. I found it to be a family matter & didn’t pay a lot of attention; but, the press just didn’t want to let it go. Now that the Queen is training her on how to conduct herself, I’m hearing a lot about how she’s so much better than Kate. I happen to like Kate & Wills; so, I’m chalking that one up to personal opinions that I don’t necessarily understand. I’ve got enough problems of my own & I see the problems across the pond to be their problem…NOT mine; so I’m have NO opinion!!!

That’s my impression from the little press I see.

I see stories like this – Meghan Markle’s Big Day Out With the Queen -
On an official trip, the chemistry between Meghan and the queen was plain to see, as they laughed and chuckled together.

Meghan and Kate and their husbands seem to be the best-loved royals since Diana, or maybe the only loved ones besides the queen.

And there is some doubt about this report, but I’d very much like to believe it. Meghan’s beagle Guy was seen riding in the Queen’s car the day before the wedding (it might actually be her own dog). Link

Yes. The fact of the matter is that none of us really know her at all. We are judging her based on what we read in the media and most of it is made up or an opinion..not fact.

Please remember that her last name is not “Markle.” She got married, ya know…

The Royal Family does not use a last name.so the wives keep their own last name. Princess Catherine is still Kate Middleton & Meghan will still use Markle. Camilla is still Parker Bowles. That is unless they are using their Duchess designation..

I was going to say, Kate Middletown is the name I still see. I didn’t know it was official.

Thinking now, we still know the names Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, etc.

I fucking hate her. Suits is one of my favorite shows. She gets a “fanny flutter” and now the entire dynamic of the show is changed. She could have just left but they didn’t have to take Mike with her.

LadyMarissa's avatar

I’ve never watched Suits; so I won’t miss any of them…sorry!!!

@johnpowell – I think he decided to leave after her exit was confirmed and yes I like the show too!! Interesting drama.

Watch Suits.

By whom? Foreigners have nothing to say about it as it is an English matter. I have no reason, as an American, to care about this.

JLeslie's avatar

@MollyMcGuire Are you American by any chance? She is an American.

canidmajor's avatar

@MollyMcGuire, you’ve surely been here long enough to know that anyone can have any say about anything here. “Foreigners” certainly have a lot to say about American matters, we are not making policy, just talking about stuff. <eyeroll>

Maybe it’s because she isn’t of the royal bloodline and that’s weird or something I don’t know. I really think that if they are all happy with each other, it doesn’t matter what anyone things.

LadyMarissa's avatar

If they are happy then I’m ecstatic!!!

I saw an article in People Magazine that says that William and Kate have gotten a lot of criticism in the British press for, among other things, lavish spending. The article also said that they are having marital problems.
