How to store this exquisite cigar?

Asked by 8lightminutesaway (1419points) August 18th, 2008

I came into possession of this beautiful cigar, but I don’t want to smoke it yet, I kinda want to wait for my friend to join me. I don’t have a humidor, so how can I store it for a few days, up to a week?

You could try keeping it in a box with a saucer of water in the corner. Just make sure the cigar don’t end up in the water.

Get a tightly sealing tupperware type container large enough to fit the cigar and a folded up damp (not wet) paper towel. Store in the fridge until you are ready to smoke. Redampen the towel, periodically. Don’t get too much moisture or you’ll get mold. Just slightly dampen to keep a bit of moisture in the container so the tobacco doesn’t dry out.

The worst thing you could do is store your cigar in a the refrigerator. The ideal storage temperature for a cigar is 70 – 72 F. I would recommend you go to your local tobacconist or cigar shop and purchase a Humidipak Humidor Bag http://www.humidipak.com/Products/HumidorBag/

Good Luck!

make sure it’s distilled water – tap, spring, drinking, etc. contain impurities setting the stage for mold. Mamasu is right, except for the type of water, and the fridge. Room temp is best.
