What is that one perfectly made movie for you?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28813points) July 31st, 2018 from iPhone

Been watching films for four decades now and pretty sure more than just several films I’ve seen I consider to be perfect at this point in my life.

Two of them are Tokyo Story and Wizard of Oz. I just can’t find any flaws in them after many revisits.

I like certain flaws.
Dimples are a birth defect, you know.
Sometimes flaws are endearing.
It provides for a family game, like, who can find the first shadow from nowhere?
And, counting the tire marks, how many takes did they do?

The good with the bad, me lad, the good with the bad.

Well, there are many that are extremely well-done, and they’re different, and they meet what I want in different ways.

The top of my list is Harold and Maud, though it is a unique film of a certain type, and I like various types.

Another favorite which is pretty unique and I have no complaints about is The Ladykillers (1955).

Some pretty perfect comedies in their own ways:
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010)

Every movie has a flaw or two. It’s whether it still makes me feel good about it despite the flaws that matters. A better question should be “what movie is the best made so far for you?”

Oh, yes! Golly yes, The Outlaw Josie Wales. I love the opening especially.

With modern movies, I am on the fence about special effects. Sometimes it takes my breath away, sometimes I feel more attention goes into effects than actually presenting a worthwhile story. It often feels like magazine photo doping. I would rather see a real this or that than a cgi.
That said, I am a big fan of the two Guardians Of The Galaxy movies, and the effects on planet Ego are fun. Wishing LuckyGuy or ScienceChick could give us a recipe to make those rainbow floating globs. They were certainly not soap bubbles. I love how they made Drax giggle.
I suppose I love those movies because every day I feel like I could use a motley crew of heroes around.
