Has a pillock ever called you a snollygoster?

Asked by Brian1946 (32268points) August 3rd, 2018

Apparently it happened to Helen Mirren!

What other amusing or idiomatic insults, have you heard or proffered?

If some scallywag called me that, I’d right pepper his porridge, I would!

Can we call a Trump supporter a Mumpsimus?

And are a bunch of them, like the lickspittle mooncalfs down in Florida yesterday, called a Mumpsimi or a Mumpsimusi?

I’ve been called a smiling mandarin, when I was in my early teens.
At the time I felt hurt by it, because of who addressed it to me, and the ridiculing manner he did so.
Later I started to embrace it, because I realized that he couldn’t stand the fact that I was always positive (maybe somewhat naive), and that my smile rarely left my face.

I thought you had to be dead and haunting someone to be a snollygoster (schnelle Geister, as I recall; Pennsylvania Dutch, maybe?). Maybe its use has evolved since I read that.

I’d go with “vile miscreant” if I had to insult someone on short notice. If I had a little prep time, I might resort to Shakespeare, who had a trove of them.
