Does the US government really pay the NFL millions of dollars to honor the military?

Asked by rojo (24179points) August 16th, 2018

Seems rather unpatriotic to take money to do this.

Is patriotism that has to be purchased really patriotism? Isn’t there a better word for it?

Well the DOD almost certainly buys commercials at any televised testosterone laden event for recruiting purposes.

No. I am an avid fan. The NFL doesn’t have to pay certain taxes. Maybe that’s what you’re talking about.

Yes, they do spend millions to have sporting events “honor the military”.

This is beyond the cost of flyovers and service people doing color guards and improperly holding huge flags over the field. There are direct payments for ceremonies like public re-enlstments before a game, or having retrung soldiers do a meet and greet with an athlete.

Trump has a history of buying anything he wants that someone has NO interest in giving him!!! Everybody has their price & he abuses that concept!!!

MollyMcGuire's avatar

He may spend his money any way he wishes, within the law. That just bugs the shit out of people like you. I really don’t know why, but it’s a waste of energy.

MrGrimm888's avatar

Hating people like Trump, is never a waste of energy.

MollyMcGuire's avatar

Hating at all is a waste of energy. It says more about you than your subject.

Molly…You don’t know me well enough to know what people like me are like!!! So, you think it’s a waste of my time for me to have an opinion; but it’s OK for you to waste your time telling me I’m wasting my time???

I don’t give a rat’s ass how he spends HIS money…it’s how he’s spending MY tax dollars that pisses me off!!!

^^^^^This isn’t a Trump question; the military has been spending the millions for years. It is considered a recruitment/PR expense.

Trump really hates the NFL because they wouldn’t let him in the club after his USFL fiasco.

Your post is about Trump’s history. Keep up.

I’ll keep it up. The hate energizes me. I can do this for years. Stable genius opposes anyone who opposes him. That’s why he’s started revoking security clearances, from people who call him out.

The NFL is NOT in any way responsible for supporting the flag. Trump’s efforts to make it so have been stopped, until the NFLPA, and the league can discuss the anthem protests. Another loss for Trump. Another step too far, and proof of his ignorance.
