Does it make a difference that we didn't know ahead of time?

We didn’t know Nixon was a crook or that Clinton was a philanderer when we voted them in, but we knew well ahead of time that Trump is all of those things, and worse, and yet “we” still voted him in?
What has changed about our country that we can justify our actions?
