Do you think you would notice if someone you knew had a split personality, what would you do.

Yes, but worked at a psychiatric hospital in college. Only saw two of her three personalities.

I was about 15 and living in Redlands California. I watched a lot of baseball back then and was a huge Dennis Eckersley fan. I put a duct-tape square on the garage door and forced myself to throw side-armed from the street.

One day I was throwing balls at the garage door and the cops go to my next door neighbor. She had been missing for a few months.

Turns out she called 911 on her other self. Somehow she had two houses (I have no idea how she got money). But she called 911 on her other “person” as missing. Turns out for over a decade she kept two separate houses going and just randomly flipped between them.

I knew one person for sure who had split personalities. When we first met she told me she did. Then I got to see it in action. I found myself having the same conversation with her several times until all her personalities had heard the conversation. It was a strange experience!

I think one of her personalities was vindictive, and when she started saying things that threatened the safety of my children I cut off the relationship.

I knew someone who I thought could have but they were never officially diagnosed as having a split personality. Would you consider this a form of being bi-polar?

@rojo Bi-polar is manic behavior then depression. Split personality, now called dissociative identity disorder, are different personalities in the same body usually caused severe trauma when very young.

My friend didn’t have the ups and downs of bipolar. I don’t think she was. She did switch out personalities seemingly randomly, and with no notice. Apparently some were “tied” to each other, and either shared some information or listened at the same time. Others seemed to be independent of the rest, or maybe they didn’t allow the others to listen in. For my part, I had to be really patient while all the personalities experienced the same conversation. I didn’t remain friends with her long enough to have a really big upset, but I’m sure that if I had sooner or later it would’ve turned into a train wreck!

No. No. Yes. That might explain why people get duplicate texts from me. I have duplicate memories, so it is possible that I have delusional disorder. Split personality is called delusional disorder now.

Or disassociate disorder.
