Would 2:18pm today be a good time for the Russians (or Chinese or Iranians or Canadians) to attack the US?
Since there’s going to be the pre-announced text message Presidential alert at 2:18pm Eastern this afternoon, would it be a good time for one of our foreign enemies to be do a sneak attack on the US?
After all, people are being told to essentially ignore the 2:18 text alert, so an attacking country could stealthily attack and people will ignore it.

The States have already been attacked, stealthily, and some (dozens million people) didn’t even notice (till this day).
I’m reading your question at 2:00 EDT. I just returned from my mid-day workout at the health club, and I haven’t showered or dressed yet. I guess I don’t need to bother?
11:25 a.m. PDT: Nothing happened at 11:18, at least not in the form of a message on my phone. But my phone, a “basic” (non-smartphone) model, which was on and working, has now blacked out and I can’t turn it on.

I had to remove the battery and put it back in to get it started.
Anyone else have phone difficulties at that time?

Your “Flip phone” will not work. Smart phones pre WEA (Wireless Emergency Alert) will not receive them !
You need a smart phone to receive the Presidential Alert made after 2012.

Yes on smart phones, mine and my wife’s. Also came up on cable TV.
The President doesn’t control the alerts, maybe he thinks he does, but is it Home Land Security and FEMA
Mine showed up on my phone, right on schedule
I happened to be holding mine as I was walking into the store. It rattled and rang like an Amber Alert emergency, which caused me to stop in my tracks to see. Asshole.
Didn’t get it at first this Presidential Alert. But then realized of course, America is under threat from this pre…pres..pressngrk…( yuck )
It flashed upon the TV screen but my phone remained mute.
An orange alert would be scary with a trumpets voluntary tone.
