Have you ever come across the following message in your Compose Gmail?

Asked by flo (13313points) December 5th, 2018

“Be careful with this message. Someone may be trying to trick you by using similar looking characters in their email address. For example, replacing the letter “O” with the number “0”. Learn more”
If you did come across it what site was it to, (I don’t mean a personal email address but something meant for the public)?

Google sends warnings like that with links to Google Security pages.

@zenvelo So, you never came across it?

Gmail warns you when they think an email might be malicious (virus, phishing, etc.), so yes…I’ve seen similar warnings. The ‘learn more’ button is probably a pop-up that gives you more info, or a link to google.

@flo Yes, I have seen that message, but not when I am writing a message. I usually see it when I am reviewing my spam folder and see something from someone I know who just happens to have an odd email address.

Ok, thanks you both.
How do you remove it if it doesn’t go away on it’s own?
