Do you believe that Frank Morris, along with John & Clarence Anglin, successfully escaped from Alcatraz Island Federal Prison on June 11, 1962?

Asked by JackAdams (6574points) August 22nd, 2008

I think they pulled off one of the most successful prison escapes, in the history of the USA, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all, 46 years later, if at least one of them was still alive, somewhere.

There is no question that the escape was successful. They were never found on the island so we are sure they ecaped. Now, were they successful in surviving? Beats me. I would think it was very possible, though.

I forgot to mention, in my details section, this link, which you might find informative:

We’ll probably never know for sure (not unless one of them turns up, I guess), but when the Mythbusters tested it, they found it “plausable”. In other words, they demonstrated that the escape might’ve been successful.

A bit of detail about their test is on Wikipedia:

(Scroll down for episode 8, or just search for “Alcatraz”; I’d link it directly, but it’s long and Fluther doesn’t seem to like it.)
