What do you think of Elizabeth Warren running for president?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46812points) December 31st, 2018

My first reaction is a positive one. I think she could get the Hillary Haters who abstained, or voted 3rd party, because she doesn’t have the history that Hillary does (whatever history Hillary has. Still not clear on that.) She’s only been high profile since 2010, when Obama appointed her to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
She’s brilliant, and, like the Obama’s, has studied and taught law.

As long as the Hillary Haters didn’t vote against Hillary simply because she was / is a woman, I think Warren has a good chance.

What do you think?

If she became the nominee say hello to another 4 years of Trump. She doesn’t energize the younger generation who is so desperately needed to win in 2020.

Oh, I think we’d get back to a more normal government. She has some brains, for one thing. She understands law and the government for another. That alone would set her so far above Trump she’d be in the stratosphere. (Speaking of, have you heard? Trump is insisting that the Obamas have a 10 foot wall around their house. They don’t. Warren wouldn’t pop off with idiotic shit like that.)
And I do love Bernie, and I loved how he galvanized the kids, and in fact toyed with the idea of whether or not I’d vote for him. But face it…but he’s just too old at this point. Who else is out there that could do what he did?

I like warren, but I really wish she wouldn’t run. I want someone that energizes people on their own, not just as anti Trump.

As bad as Trump has been, someone like Warren would have people staying home again instead of voting. I want someone like Beto O’Rourke, who gets people fired up.

“Who else is out there that could do what he did?” Certainly not Warren. Regardless of age, Bernie can energize the younger generation. Beto is also a great choice.

Lukewarm on Warren. Have to see what version of Warren we see here, I guess.

But I would vote for her over many of the others, including the corporate candidate of the hour, Beto.

@Stache Not every single candidate can be a Bernie Sanders! Hillary voted the same way as Bernie 93% of the time. I think that’s as close as we’re gonna get.
I don’t think people were ready for Sanders, anyway.

You need a Superman to Trump’s Luthor. Warren sure ain’t a Superman. Hillary trying again could be Superman. But only if she says to all her haters, “Fakk you. I’m running again.”

Not excited, but I’d love to have a female President that gets me excited like Obama did.

@Dutchess_III They (the public) were ready for Sanders. They weren’t ready for Clinton, hence why she lost.

I liked Warren as a professor Since she ran for office, it is no longer clear what she stands for. Her genetic testing stunt did not go over so well.

The more the merrier! BRING IT ON!

Good for her. Will she be a good President? Well, we have set the bar so low the the present office occupant that if you show up half the days and get to work before noon you are an improvement. And she is certainly much more intelligent but intelligence, education, and knowledge do not seem to be traits viewed favorably for the office these days.

I do question whether or not she can get everyone excited.

She was just trying to field the trump’s and the republicans ridiculous attack @LostInParadise. I don’t know why they announced she had any specific tribe’s DNA because that’s too funny, and they aren’t stupid people. Maybe they were able to pinpoint the general area that ancestor was from so it was a logical guess? I have to look a little further into it because I wasn’t really paying attention at the time.

They thought they were ready for him @Stache, but were they really? Were they ready for some hefty tax increases? I am, but I don’t know if the “kids” would have expected it.

I’m not fond of her. If she became the nominee I’d vote for her, but I hope the Democrats can find someone else who I like better.

I guess it’s true that Bernie voters might go for her, which might be good, but my gut feeling is Warren vs. Trump, Trump wins. My gut has been wrong before though.

I have not formulated an opinion on Warren yet, but if she ends up being the Democratic nominee then she’s got my vote. She’s a little older than I’d like, but that’s modern Washington for you.

I absolutely can’t stand the woman and I would vote for her in a millisecond if she were running against Trump.
