What would be the endgame in the 2019 SOTU situation?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28796points) January 17th, 2019 from iPhone

Speaker Pelosi wants it scrapped or handwritten instead in light of the government shutdown but Trump might not let go of this bone easily. How do you think this issue of the State of the Union address, a popular political American tradition would end?

MacConnell asks Trump to deliver his speech at the Senate in another building? Or trump delivers it at the border or The Lincoln Memorial?

Or maybe just tweeting the whole State of the Hamberder speech?

The speech is written by Stephen Colbert and orated by the same, with his best Drumpf impression.

The speech could also be postponed until the shutdown ends. As I understand it, the President must be formally invited by the Speaker of the House to address the House of Representatives. Why would Pelosi want to sit behind Trump while he blames the Democrats for the shutdown? Citing security concerns due to the shutdown is a perfect excuse. Trump will no doubt find some other place to trash the Democrats, but chalk one up for Pelosi for preventing it from happening in the House.

As I read history, Pelosi is in the right about asking Trump to submit it in writing or to postpone it. She has precedent and the law behind her. (Isn’t that what Conservatives value? Precedent and law?)

So the outcome of the standoff is one of two things

1) Trump gracefully accedes, takes his lumps, and moves on to the Wall

2) Trump turns petulant again and makes an ass of himself.

Which do you think he will do?

OOps. Thought of another one.

3) Trump declares an emergency and takes over Congress, helped by the military on the streets of America
