Almonds first.
Then pecans.
Then….peanuts.
I like peanuts mostly because it’s fun to watch the dogs shell and eat them.

They offer different things, and are not comparable on a linear “best-tasting” scale, for me.

I particularly like:

pistachios
walnuts
pecans
peanuts
almonds
haselnuts

The top two might be my favorites, but all of them are the best at doing what they do, which are all different things.

Walnuts
Macadamia
Cashews
Pine nuts
Brazil

(I thought this was a trick question, too, @ragingloli)

I like Macadamia’s the best. Brazil Nuts are good. I like the flavor of cashews, but their texture is a little soft, I guess.

I’m allergic to Brazils and sensitive to walnuts and pecans. I can still eat peanuts and almonds without issue.

Nuts on their own:
Almonds
Pecans
Cashews

Nuts in sweets like candy, brownies, and cake:
Pecans
Walnuts
Hazelnuts
Peanuts

Nuts in Ice cream:
Almonds
Pecans

Peanuts are not technically nuts, but I guess we are counting them.

I didn’t think anyone liked Brazil nuts. I always thought of them as filler in mixed nuts, and they ruin the mix for me.

The biggest disappointment was when corporate sent out a box of chocolates to each location one Christmas! I eagerly opened it…to find nuts. Just nuts. All kinds of nuts. Bleh.

Macadamia
Cashews

@JLeslie I’ll trade my almonds for your Brazil nuts. My husband loves them more than I do haha. They are creamy and meaty both.

Salted shelled pistachios.

I cannot even believe I forgot pistachios! I have a bag of them in my pantry. But, I don’t like them in other dishes. I like them lightly salted on their own.

Roasted salted cashews.

I love all kinds of nuts and legumes (peanuts are a legume). Here is my order of preference:

Macadamias
Pistachios
Cashews
Peanuts
Walnuts
Pecans
Almonds
Hazelnuts

Pistachios, without question.

I’ve also had some hot boiled peanuts in NC by the side of the road that were surprising good.

Doughnuts! ;-p

I feel like I might be channeling Reddeerdude.

Pistachios are my favorite, followed by almond. The two make excellent sweets :)

Cashews and almonds.
I find macadamia nuts remarkably unflavorful.

De cola nut, mon.

gondwanalon's avatar

Peanuts are number one with me.

All the other nuts are just ok.

My least liked nut is macadamia. People told me that they are so delicious and I was dissapointed when I finally tried one. Seemed bland and tasteless.

@ragingloli

Chestnuts roasting by an open fire and a nice glass of spätburgunder, chin chin.

mazingerz88's avatar

I like Nutella.

rockfan's avatar

Cashews, lightly salted

I really dislike the soft texture of pecans

Cashew

Most assuredly, macadamia nuts. They taste like butter.

mazingerz88's avatar

^^A friend just gave me chocolate with macadamia nuts from Hawaii.

@Brian1946 “Doughnuts!”

Actually, my favorite tasting raw, unsalted nuts are Brazils. Some of them even have a subtle bacon-like flavor.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

I cannot believe nobody has mentioned deez nuts. Nothing beats deez nuts.

Kardamom's avatar

@Brian1946 That is interesting that you taste bacon. With Brazil nuts, which are probably my least favorite, they taste like raw potatoes to me.

What an odd divergence of perceived flavor, from the same food.
