Are you watching (or listening) to the hearing?

And so it begins — the near certain perpetual parade of Congressional investigations into “Club Trump”. I almost feel sorry for him.

Of course, interesting isn’t it?! I don’t feel sorry for him, or any of them, even Cohen. Trumps response should be fun.

chyna's avatar

It’s always fun when the president of the US acts like a petulant child .~

stanleybmanly's avatar

@KNOWITALL I think, considering what’s to come, you’ll change your mind

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, tuning in now and then. I guess I’m waiting for the end, then listening to the high points, kind of like with Kavenaugh.

Started watching in the middle of his opening statement.
It’s awful watching the Republicans trying everything they can to slander and accuse Cohen. I wish they were simply interested in finding the truth.

Kardamom's avatar

I have been watching since it came on. It is riveting.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@stanleybmanly What’s to come? What do you mean specifically, the fall out or his reaction or the ‘unicorn’ impeachment? lol

My policy has always been if you don’t want to do the time, don’t do the crime….if they chose to lie and cheat or whatever, either of them or both (Trump-Cohen), they get what they get.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@KNOWITALL The fact that Cohen is under a gag order from federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. There is only one person impacted by the federal prosecutors and his name rhymes with Donald Trump.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@KNOWITALL The buildup of grievances against Trump is so extensive that there will be hearings to last beyond the day he leaves office. Once the Republicans lost the House, his doom was sealed.

Wish I had the time. I’m sure it is a real circus!

On the other hand, why is everybody so interested in a guy who is going to prison for lying to Congress as he… testifies before Congress

chyna's avatar

^And says he will write a book about it. And a movie. Not sure who would want to watch it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I listened to the first video in this article..

My eye brows are raising, but I don’t know why. We’ve always known what he’s been up to. Is this going to change anything?

@josie He has a great deal of incentive to tell the truth at this point. If he lies about anything he’s gone for life.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@chyna I hear the book deal is worth over $3 million but he has to be completely honest in the hearings or it’s off? Haven’t investigated yet. Debarred lawyer and an admitted liar, but I suppose he could still be telling the truth….we’ll see.

Dutchess_III's avatar

There is something different in the way people talk when they are telling the truth. Like Judge Judy says, if you tell the truth you don’t have to remember what story you told in the past.
I am satisfied that he is telling the truth. Plus he’ll have evidence to back it up.

ucme's avatar

I mean I was, caught an overdramatic clip earlier & the bloke acts like he’s in a shit movie.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

I’m trying to avoid both testimony’s. One in the USA and the other with the Canadian AG.

“There is only one person impacted by the federal prosecutors and his name rhymes with Donald Trump.”

How is Ronald Rump impacted by federal prosecutors? ;-o

mazingerz88's avatar

trump supporters would simply look at Cohen the way they did Kavanaugh’s accuser.

Not enough evidence, no corroborating witnesses, it is all just malicious attacks from someone who has no credibility. Any evidence is FAKE. Lol

Anything and everything for lord trump! MAGA!!!

Brian1946's avatar

@Tropical_Willie

Wow, I had no idea they were actually the same person! ;-0

Dutchess_lll's avatar

He just gave testimony for the public today @mazingerz88. Back up witnesses and other evidence to follow as needed.

^^Watching some of the videos in YouTube right now. As expected the Repubs are using the same bad script.

I listened to the bit where a congresswoman was accusing a congressman of being a racist. I turned it off.

Loved it. Republicans in a tizzie and repeatedly pointing out he lied without mentioning that he lied at the directive of Trump and his legal team. AND not mentioning that the man worked for Trump for twenty years, yes the same Trump that says he only hires the best.

Yes, he is a liar and that is one of the reasons he was Trumps butt baby for so many years, that and he did as he was told.

@Caravanfan take a look at the video of said congressman (Mark Meadows) Article

rojo's avatar

See if you can find Rick Santorum on CNN feigning confusion and outrage at Trumps lies because he lies about everything. Sure, he then tried to walk it back by adding something about at least that is what people say so why are they upset when he does.

I watched the first couple of hours. It was on in the room I was in anyway. His initial statement had some stuff in there I could have done without, but overall it was fine. I believe Cohen was telling the truth when answering questions. I liked Cohen’s response when a Republican tried to twist things and Cohen would answer and then say, “you are just like how I was, defending and protecting Trump, and one day you will regret it like me.” Something to that effect.

As I listened I thought, this guy Cohen made a fortune, it’s just incredible to me the amounts of money people like this get paid. He deserves to go to jail, and he said over and over what he is guilty of. To think it wasn’t at the direction or desire of Trump is baffling to me.

I also thought, as I have before, paying off Stormy Daniels was a waste. Trump supporters don’t care that Trump screwed around.

I still bet that Trump finishes his term. My dad says this is Nixon all over again. I don’t see Trump resigning. I also don’t see Trump supporters turning on Trump.

I don’t feel badly for Cohen or Trump, they did so many awful things. It’s not one mistake, it’s a long history of sleazy behavior. But, I do think Cohen has remorse about at least some of the things he did.

I saw a Republican questioning Cohen about a mortgage loan he took out. That he lied on the application. Cohen said he has never not paid a mortgage he owed. I just see that line of questioning as a colossal waste of time. He might have lied on the application, I don’t know, but he already has shown he had disregard for the law, that’s not new. Paying the loan is the most important part of the whole thing though. He didn’t actually hurt the lender.

Someone pointed out that the Reps hammered Cohen for lying to Congress but that the lie he was convicted of telling was that Donald Trump did nothing illegal…...

… So, they are upset that he lied that Trump did nothing illegal? But doesn’t that logically mean that in their eyes Trump did actually do something illegal and Cohen should not have lied about it?

Dutchess_III's avatar

They are an incredibly obtuse group as a whole, @rojo.
Someone pointed out that they beat on Cohen, calling him a liar, a cheat, a thief, calling him every foul name in the book…..forgetting, I guess, that he was trump’s the first choice for a lawyer and “fix it” guy.
