Why are my thumb nails hard but my other nails so very thin?

Asked by Harper1234 (857points) March 25th, 2019

I have had thin peeling nails forever it seems but my thumb nails I can barely cut they are so thick and hard. What’s the difference and how can i thicken up my other nails?

The difference is evolution.

Thumbs (and thumbnails) played a more essential role in food gathering, food opening, and similar survival-type functions than they do today.

You must have inherited a strong-thumbnail gene from your Neanderthal predecessors.

Collagen can help with nail and hair growth/thickness.
