If you had a chance to shame Congress into doing the right thing, what right thing would you choose?

Asked by SaganRitual (2072points) June 12th, 2019

Just one thing, like the bill they just passed (after 18 freaking years) to take care of the 9/11 first responders. If you’re shy, which celebrity or other noteworthy person would you choose to shame Congress in your place?

This has got to be one of fluther’s best ever questions.

I am a strong believer that schools need more than just some safety bill to improve. I believe they need total restructuring; physically and academically.
It isn’t done for the simple fact the undertaking would be such a huge task, nobody wants to tackle it.
We take an unbelievably archaic approach to educating our future adults.
Social studies should involve responsible usage of social media, techie trends, current contraversies, etiquette to be observed in foreign countries.

Buildings need to be designed to maximise safety.

Staff treat students like inmates in most classes of many schools. Students need a sense of security, caring, belonging. Staff should set the example.

There is more, but I will save that for my address to Congress.

I don’t need a celebrity to present for me.

Getting money out of politics. All of the failures in our system stem from that one issue.

This is a dream. It will never happen.

But the best thing they could do is decide to work for the benefit of the people instead playing their childish games.

IF congress, or any in DC, had the ability to be shameful, they should all resign. Or better yet, collectively commit mass suicide.
The entire system is broken. So many changes are needed, that I wouldn’t have time enough in the day to address them all.

Radical, sweeping change is badly needed. The status quo, however, will likely be what persists…
