Could you use the human brain's dream mechanics for mind control?

As you all know, when you dream, no matter how bat-shit crazy and physics-defying and reality warping your dream is, you have no doubt in your mind that it is all real.
Could you induce, chemically or otherwise, this state while someone is awake, so no matter what you tell him, he will believe it?
