Do you currently use cannabis?

Asked by hmmmmmm (6865points) October 3rd, 2019

If so, what method of administration (smoke, dry herb vaporizer, tincture, edible, etc), and what do you take it for? Are you consuming high-CBD strains, high-THC strains, even ratio, mostly CBD, etc?

Would you mind sharing your experience?

Nope. I never cared for its effects, and I don’t like the strong odor when it’s smoked.

I tried CBD oil with low THC as I don’t like to get high.the only thinig it did was drain my wallet of $.
A friend swears by it for her pain. She should modify her diet but that will not happen.

I tried CBD oil too, without THC.
Just as @lucillelucillelucille ‘s wallet, my wallet too flattened swiftly.
Didn’t notice any advantages.
My girlfriend though loved it (at the time); after initially taking some drips she almost gulped the bottles whole (see flat wallet).

@rebbel -Lol!
I tried experimenting with different strengths and doses but no difference.
I should add this: Yesterday, my friend called to tell me that a spot on her lung had shrunk! She takes Rick Simpson oil. So who knows what it can do?

No, but I am hopped up on 1,3,7-Trimethylxantine. Good stuff. Use that shit daily.

I use desiccated hemp capsules with high CBD and lowest THC for arthritis pain, it takes a long time (at least an hour) to digest, but then I get a good 7 hours of relief. The caps are 30 mg. It was recommended by a good friend who works in a dispensary did the research for me and recommended this stuff.
I’ve been using this stuff fairly regularly for over a year and am still getting good results.

ETA, I eat healthier than just about everybody (well, not today, apple cider donuts are in season!) so it’s not a dietary fix.

^ That’s great to hear that a) you were able to find relief, and b) there doesn’t seem to be a tolerance or need to increase.

I’m new to CBD and have been experimenting very slowly. I’m very sensitive to most substances, and I am loving the experiment so far. I’ve been working with full-spectrum CBD tinctures (<.03% THC), hempflower (smoking and dry-herb vaping), and have also been experimenting with adding low levels of THC to the mix. I also have a 10:1 (CBD:THC) tincture that I just bought.

I’m primarily using to help with anxiety and sleep, but since I have chronic pain issues, I’d also like to find a dose that might help at some point.

Nah. Not since….1997. One time and the last time.
Before that the last time was 1984.
Before that was the 70s man, so hail ya!

All the CBD products I’ve tried just put me to sleep.

Nah, I snorted crack one time when I slipped in the mud & fell face first into a pig’s arse…looked like he enjoyed it too the filthy swine.

@hmmmmmm I was very lucky to find something effective so quickly. I think it’s still effective because I don’t use it everyday, just on the really bad days. I’ve had experience with pain meds losing efficacy, I hope, as this has not been highly processed, and is more natural botanic than chemical, it won’t have the same effect.
My sleep was really screwed up in the beginning, but is fine now. So far I notice no difference in anxiety levels, but staying even basically informed in these “interesting” times has me practically hiding under my bed.

I wish you success with this, I am pleased to have had some myself.

@canidmajor: “I think it’s still effective because I don’t use it everyday.”

I’ve been reading that CBD might actually have a reverse tolerance, meaning that your body may require less of CBD over time. Not sure there have been any studies on this, however.

canidmajor's avatar

Oh, that would be lovely! I hope that’s right! Coming into a New England winter with all it’s pressure, temperature, and humidity changes will be a sure test of all that!

I am not allowed to take CBD products as a condition of employment. I have not had any cannabis in over 20 years.

hmmmmmm's avatar

^ That’s too bad. CBD is actually federally legal (2018 farm bill) and legal in all but 2 states (but those are currently fighting).

There are going to be legal cases for years while we crawl slowly out of the dark prohibition era. We have medical and recreational dispensaries here in MA. It’s legal to smoke, yet many employers can apparently fire someone for this legal behavior.

Anyway, if you’re interested in CBD at all, make sure you get isolate (THC-free). While the full-spectrum (contains THC at very low amounts) is legal (up to .03% thanks to the farm bill), there have been cases where people have apparently consumed enough to fail a drug test.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

Several people have, thus none of us are allowed. Since it is not tightly regulated you can’t be sure there is no thc.

hmmmmmm's avatar

True. But the big, trusted vendors (the ones everyone has been taking for years) all have 3rd party-testing per batch. You can view the exact amount of CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN, THC, and all kinds of other heavy metal testing, etc.

I’d want the cannabis. I could care less about CBD oil. It’ll have to wait until retirement I guess.

josie's avatar

I’ll tell you what.

I like an occasional Scotch.
I like an occasional cigar.
And I like an occasional gummie or joint.

The trick is to not make it a habit, but to sort of apply it to the moment. None of the above have any meaning without without company that are sort of like you.

No. My experience is it smells like dog poop, burning dog poop, and or skunk to me. I’ve never smoked anything or done “recreational” “drugs”.

I use a one hitter whenever i have the money to buy some pot, which is rarely these days. A friend gave me a 1/8 bag when I moved 2 months ago to help because I was having issues with my hip. It helped ease the pain.

My 84 year old father uses CBD oil to help with arthritic hip pain. He swears by it. It doesn’t take the pain away completely but he can move around much easier than he can without the oil. It also helps him sleep and has lowered his blood sugar. He’s diabetic.

jca2's avatar

No. Even when I was young, I wasn’t into pot.

Now, with my job, I could be drug tested at any time. I work in the state of NY, for one of the county governments. I have never been drug tested in over twenty years of employment, but still…... They usually don’t drug test people unless they appear to be impaired at work, or they might test people who have CDL licenses (commercial drivers’ licenses).

I remember a garbage truck driver (for a local city) telling me once that he was annoyed because he would go the whole year without smoking any pot, but if he went on vacation and had one joint on a camping trip, he could lose his job for that. I totally understand why that would annoy someone who wanted an occasional recreational use, which would not affect his job performance.

Never will. The idea is goofy to me.
