Can you boil your brain if you take a hot shower too long?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24461points) October 27th, 2019

Or any damage to your body?
I strached my back with my nails after a long shower and they left a mark. Is their any other health problems that come with long hot showers or baths?

You can scald yourself, but no, you probably won’t boil your brain. If the water was hot enough to do that you would not be able to stand in it.

Too much water (hot) on your skin can cause your skin to dry out. Same with your hair.

It’s also possible to faint after a shower because you have dilated your blood vessels. Read this

I doubt it

I think it would be more of a steam than a boil.

Also, I think the scratch has more to do with scratching your back with your nails than with your bath.

Why waste time, water and energy when taking a shower? Consider taking a Navy shower

It is really simple. Just 3 steps.
1. Turn the water on to get yourself wet, then turn the shower off.
2. With the shower off, apply soap to your body. It makes no sense to keep the shower on while applying soap.
3. Turn the shower back on to rinse off the soap.
Low energy, low water, and minimal exposure to hot water.

@LostInParadise
You must have good heat as my bathtub/shower has to wait a few minutes to get hot.

@elbanditoroso
Good article that you linked too.

@Inspired_2write , The first step includes time for the water to get warm. It always seems to take a long time, but I doubt that it is more than a minute or two.
