Should Standardized Testing be removed from the college admissions process?

Asked by essence_of_jade (90points) November 6th, 2019

I want to know your opinions. This would mean removing tests such as the SAT and the ACT test from the college admissions.

I guess so. Don’t know why they even have them. Some of the people going to college are dumb as a box of rocks.

No. I would like remedial classes to be made available, through the college, and no admission average. Just proper placement.

Many colleges are test optional.

I went to a university without taking either of the tests. I just went to a community college the first two years and nailed it. They didn’t need either test score.

Some schools don’t want them.

No. And the existing ones should go back to previous standards. They have been dumbed down (a few years ago) and now they are being changed in a most ridiculous way. The test should strictly measure knowledge. Every test should be graded on the same criteria…...........no points for a parent in prison.

I never needed to take any either, I did community college first also. In grad school I had to take the GRE but there was no criteria for using it in acceptance, you just had to take it. I’m taking the GMAT for an online MBA program in a couple weeks but again, you just have to take it. If you have the right degree and GPA they don’t care about the score. I’m not even going to study at all. Sucks I have to pay to take a meaningless test. I don’t think standardized test scores are much of a predictor of future success, your grades generally are though.

OK, but you haven’t identified the acceptable alternative evidence of readiness.

Would a note from my mother be enough?

Grades and GPA not good enough?
