What kind of medication instruction says to take for a certain period of time? See detail.

What is the question?

@elbanditoroso I think @flo is asking what kind of medications specify how long you should take them for? Like some tell you to take it as you need but some specifically tell you to take it once a day for 6 weeks or something. The ones that usually tell you to take it as you need are like cold medications and other OTC pain reliever like Ibuprofen. The ones that specify I think are medications for things after surgery, after an illness, after an accident?

Cough drops, Ibuprofen, or anything for temporary and not as severe issues like headaches would be take as needed but anything that is supposed to help you long term like meds for after a surgery or a serious accident would probably be a “take for x weeks” kind of medication, same with a serious illness or disease. I know some inhalers are take as needed, but when I had walking pneumonia it was take as needed for, like, 3 weeks or something?

By the way the reason I asked is “Take for 3 weeks” (something close to 3 weeks) every morning before breakfast” I’m posting another OP.
