What's your worst/best breakup story?

Asked by eadinad (1278points) August 29th, 2008

Tell me about the best or worst breakup you ever had. What happened? What made it so good/bad? If you were going to break up with someone today, how would you do it?

Cast your mind back. Way back. :^> When I was in high school, I had been dating this guy for a few weeks and he’d said we were exclusive. You can see where this is going. So, one day I’m walking in my neighborhood and I see him walking arm in arm in a very lovey-dovey fashion with another girl that lived just around the block from me. He didn’t see me, but I saw him. Later that night he called me like everything was normal. I didn’t say anything about it yet.

When I got to school I talked to the girl. We knew each other a little, not well. We decided to confront him together. At lunch we met at his car and both of us were sitting on the hood of his car in the parking lot as he walked out of the building to go get lunch. He took one look at us and froze for a moment mid-step. Then he just turned around to walk back in the building. As he walked back into the building each of us hollered at him “I’m breaking up with you!” And he just waved an acknowledgment. That was the end of it.

Go girls! As for me, I was engaged at a very young age, and the boy lived with me at my mom’s house (long story). We’d been having a bit of a rough patch, nothing I didn’t think would blow over. He surprised me by picking me up from work one day, and I’m thinking we’ll have a nice dinner, hammer out the problems, etc…when he informs me that he moved out while I was at work. Totally blindsided me. He kept saying it was only temporary, that we’d be back together soon, dragging it out for months. I finally got up the nerve to tell him to go to hell, and moved on with my life. Really, it was the best thing that ever happened to me!

I was together with my ex boyfriend for a few months and when he cheated on me we broke up. It was hard for me because I was hurt and I loved him. Anyway, he never really left me completely alone, he used to text me once in a while saying how much he misses me and until last week he did that. He told me he wanted to talk about us and maybe try it again. He went for a vacation to europe and said we’d talk about this when he comes back. I know he’s back he just hasn’t called me yet so once again he makes me look stupid. This is by far the hardest break up Ive ever been through because I love him so much it hurts.

The hardest break up was with the love of my life, (yes foolish but I really beleive so) whom I was only with for 2 years. It just wasn’t working on his end, I guess. I never really got a full reason. I became ridiculously depressed for a while after. Started smoking, being promiscious, I made some dumb decisions basically. We tried to stay friends. Actually hung out recently but that turned out horribly wrong (we ended up getting high and having sex, oh and he has a girlfriend). But anyways, the worst break up was with a boy I dated for a few weeks. After I dumped him, he threatened to kill himself and said a lot of hurtful things to me. The best break up was with my friend Molly. It was mutual and very easy and we are the best of friends now.
I dont do relationships anymore. Or at least at this point in my life. But if I were going to break up with someone I’d probably just stop talking to them as much and if they confronted me I’d tell them I wanted to break it off. Harsh, I know.

Ok my first serious relationship was pretty bad. He broke up with me over a text message, and said he needed a break. Foolishly I ended up back with him three weeks later. He then broke up with me again two weeks later through another text message. He then later would harass me asking me to do him sexual favors, and gave my number out to other guys so that they could harass me to. That all ended after my mother went to him and threatened his life.

The best break up was with my ex cody. It was very easy, and we are best friends now.
