That on Fluther some are a bit too open and that they don’t realize that Friendships on Social sites do not equate to real friendships, that one should be careful by not disclosing emails, address etc
Surprised of the diversity of international participants.

That some conversations I have on Fluther are far more intelligent and engaging than ones I usually have in real life.

That you can have genuine affection for people you’ve never actually met.

I learned why I shouldn’t be afraid of spiders. I’ve been good friends with the person who taught me this since then and we’ve actually met in person twice. :)

Oh seriously @Jonsblond? I learned to just let spiders be too (except for brown recluses and black widows….neither of which will kill you…) but I don’t remember who I learned it from…

@Dutch Yep. I had an irrational fear of them and I would kill them. I now leave them alone or scoot them outside if they are large.

I’ve learned that it is better to give than to receive.

I’ve learned why polite society avoid political discussions.

@KNOWITALL OMG.. Say a few words and then it becomes a battleground!!!

Fluther hasn’t taught me anything at all. I brought with me to Fluther the knowledge needed to protect myself. Not being too transparent, not sharing detailed information about my life or who I am, to shy away from religion and politics – because I’m right ;)

Since my original answer was censored, I’ll reply in a different way.

Fluther has taught me that even in a community of generally pretty smart people, there are some (including me sometimes) that have opinions that would not be considered mainstream.

@PaisleyFaye I actually enjoy political discussions elsewhere, we just can’t keep it civil on fluther for some reason, which is weird, since it’s mostly mature adults. Go figure.

tinyfaery's avatar

I have learned that sometimes it’s just not worth it.

I learned what a fluther actually is. Prior to that all I knew about jellyfish that there are always a lot of dead ones to be found on beaches on the Texas Gulf Coast.
