In theory if you get to spend time with an exact copy of yourself, how long before you get tired of yourself and end it or is it possible you would want to have your copy with you for as long as you live?

Only if I am in charge or equals.

I think that since we’d always be on the same page, same sense of humor, same interests, none of which is average…I’d keep me around forever.

I’d have to have me around all the time. More interesting and intellectual than just talking to myself.

Thank you for clarifying my thoughts @kritiper.

My own question now reminded me of the movie Multiplicity with Michael Keaton. lol

Never tire of myself..perfect understanding and interests, would have a ball together.

Picture the movie Elf. Two of him together would be just about the same. I would love it, everyone else would prefer to not be in the room.

I’d be sick of myself in about twenty minutes. Thirty, tops.

I’m generally quiet and my best friends are not. We balance each other. Another me would not work.

On second thought we could bake cookies, hike and binge shows together. I might need to rethink this. The coworker I get along best with at work is very similar to me. We keep busy and chat occasionally, unlike many of the others who are loud, work little and stand around and chat while getting paid.

I think I’d keep my copy around forever. I’d always have someone to go out dancing with. We could both hang out and watch TV together. Maybe I’d get a little tired of her talking too much now and then.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Hey, @JLeslie, the two of you could hang out with the two of me and chat away until our tongues go numb. :-D

Would be bored/boring af.

Depends on what “with you” means. Are we stuck with each other 24/7? Or are we free to ignore each other?

If we were the exact same, we’d find the perfect balance of ghosting each other and hanging out. Sounds good to me.

This question reminds me of a fantasy I often play with. As a kid I used to read a comic about this device that could create an exact replica of you for a short time so that you could boss it around. So whenever I feel like I’m drowning in work, I would wish I have that device to generate my copy and divide the work into half.

I haven’t thought of what would happen if that copy would stay for longer though. I think I might enjoy its company for a while, after that I would get bored and so would the copy :p

I’d have a good time and get twice as much not done. :)

Since I and an exact copy of me would necessarily have the exact same set of preferences regarding the boundaries of our interaction, I’m pretty sure it would work out fine.

mazingerz88's avatar

^^Same here. I’m sure my exact copy would agree to getting extra gigs to finance our favorite hobby.

SavoirFaire's avatar

I just keep thinking of all the research and writing we’d get done.

I’d toss myself of a loading dock first time I come up with a witty quip that I didn’t think of.

I’m sure after a few hours he’d get on my nerves, and I’d end it.
