Holding open a door for somebody who’s not immediately behind me.
Almost all get a smile on their face.

When interacting with service job folks on the phone, in restaurants, at the car wash, etc., say “Hello” and ask them how they are before you launch into whatever it is you need.

Bring them lunch with chocolate milk.

Thank them for their service or support .
Acknowledge them by saying hi etc

When someone interacts with you in a service capacity, such as restaurant server, hotel housekeeper, etc, take the time to learn their name. Talk to them as people. If you see them again, if you remember their name it makes it even better.

Share a feel good activity like a cool song everybody can sing to.

if i like what they’ve posted, then i only give them one ga, because i don’t want to give them ga’s. ;-)

Smile and listen.

Smile and say hello. I’ve stopped doing this with old men in the grocery store. They will follow you and talk your ears off. But, it does indeed brighten their day it seems.

Sometimes just talking to someone and listening to what they have to say will make them happy. I find if I meet someone, like an elderly person at some event for example, and I strike up a conversation, they are very happy to tell me about themselves and I am very happy to listen.

@sagacious You just made me laugh with your comment about old men following you around the store! Thank you!

I tipped a waitress $50 on a $20 food bill before Christmas. She was working 2 jobs while her mom watched her 2 kids. She was saving money to buy presents for them.

I had to.

Lol @ Patty_Melt priceless! Never knew Trump had such a good voice. By the way, was that Putin on the piano?

Looked like.
The guy has a bunch of them posted. Some have unflattering intent, but I can’t get over how well choreographed they are.
Some people’s dubs are just spliced, but this guy goes for body language and facial expressions.

Yeah its hilarious. :)

Check in with someone before you head out to do your errands an ask them if they need anything.

Offer to walk your friend or neighbor’s dog if you know they’ve been busy or frazzled.

Make an extra pot of soup, or pan of lasagna and deliver it to someone you like.

Hold the door open for everyone, male or female, especially of they have a load of stuff in their hands, or have kids with them, or look like they are having a harder time walking than you. Just make a habit of opening the door for whoever is behind you, or next to you.

Smile at the customer service folks, and ask politely, “So how is your day going?” Instead of talking or texting when you interact with them.

Don’t engage in petty road rage shit, even if some asshole cuts you off, or does something else that appears to be done on purpose. It usually isn’t. It’s usually just garden variety inattention. Are they being deliberately unsafe or dangerous? Call the police, otherwise be like the girl in Frozen and let it go.

Plan ahead. The more things you can do, like pack your lunch, lay out your clothes, get the coffee maker ready, have the car gassed up, the less likely you will put yourself in a bad mood, and the less likely you will take out your bad mood on others.

Send a “have a nice day” card to a friend or loved one.

My first reaction when I read this was to say “give them a hug”. Then my words didn’t come out as intended, so I deleted and moved on thinking “how silly”. Then I found this. Guess my original reaction was correct

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@SEKA- It definitely was :) :) :)

Tell them they can have a double wide stroller, if that’s what they really want.
