Your pick for the Super Bowl?

Asked by josie (30934points) February 1st, 2020

So, I’m back for a breather and to watch the Super Bowl.
Who’s your pick?
If you want to, say why.

Hey, and here’s a favor- please don’t bother with telling me you think it’s all bullshit and you hate football and stuff. Not talking to you on this particular question.

Well, I’m trying to decide between 7 layer dip and artichoke garlic French bread dip.

OH! You mean which team. Well, since Dallas isn’t in it I don’t really have much choice. Rick is losing his freaking mind tho! First time for KC since 1969.

MrGrimm888's avatar

Should be KC, by double digits. Way better coaching staff, and fastest offense, in the league.

seawulf575's avatar

I’m going with the 49ers. I think their defense will contain the KC offense enough to allow their rushing game to beat them.

The advertisers!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Whoever has Tyreek Hill wins.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

KC
‘cuz that’s the way i like it

Taking a stab at the scores:
My Guess is : KC : 27
49’s – 24

Why? Took a look at the Super Bowl Scores over the years and frequency of scores.

KC by at least one touchdown.

Jons_Blond's avatar

Since I’m a Broncos fan I’m sticking with the AFC. Go Chiefs! And because of Mahomes.

kritiper's avatar

My homey Mahomes!

Demosthenes's avatar

I don’t know enough about football to make a prediction, but the Bay Area (specifically the Peninsula) is my home and I’ll always root for the 49ers.

LadyMarissa's avatar

The Chiefs will take it by 3…or at least that’s what my gut is telling me!!!

Brian1946's avatar

I swallowed Troy Aikman last night, and now my gut tells me the Cheaps will win by 1. ;-p

LadyMarissa's avatar

^ How did he taste???

josie's avatar

@Brian 1946
Eww..

cookieman's avatar

Since the Patriots aren’t in it, I’ll likely root for the Chiefs.

Caravanfan's avatar

KC. Because I hate the Niners. (And I live here)

I’m bummed because I work from 2–10 pm Sunday. I work in a downtown grocery in Madison, WI in their deli. We’re going to be super busy before the game, then it’ll be dead by 6pm. It’d be crazier if the Packers were in the game. The good thing for me and the others working who are football fans is our store has televisions placed throughout the building. We have one right next to the deli. When a big game is on they turn the music off and play the sound for any big game that is on. We also have a mezzanine with a bar above us. I won’t miss much, especially when I hear people cheering from upstairs and I can peek at the tv if I happened to miss a play.

I love living in a sports town. :)

ucme's avatar

The 49’ers look the more solid outfit, their tight arse defence should see them home in a close game.
The Chiefs make too many errors for me, expect the game to be won & lost late in the 4th.

SEKA's avatar

I’m not big into sports. It seems obvious to me that the score will end up the same whether or not I’m watching and any really great plays will be shown a million times in the upcoming days. Guess you could say, I’m a post game viewer

I choose Pikachu!

KNOWITALL's avatar

Chiefs for sure, they’re thirsty for it. Seriously if prayers work, they’ll win. The whole south plus some are so amped up. Watching our elders get so excited has been precious, too. It’s been 50 years!!

@Dutchess I love Tyreek. My husband figured I’d want a Mahomes jersey but I have to have the Cheetah!!

seawulf575's avatar

I think the winner will be the team that the Refs have been told are to win.

MrGrimm888's avatar

@KNOWITALL . Perhaps you are better, at compartmentalizing. But Hill, beats his wife and kid…
I respect his game. But. Not him…

Dutchess_III's avatar

They just did a parody of The Immaculate Reception. :D

KNOWITALL's avatar

@MrGrimm That toxic relationship is over, he was like 23 at the time, young and dumb.

Anyway yes, he’s a great player.

zenvelo's avatar

Niners and the over. High scoring game, but KC will not be able to come from behind.

Dutchess_III's avatar

He’s, like, 25 now.

I don’t give any excuses for a child or woman beater. None of this “He was young,” crap. No excuse.

From Wikipedia ”Stillwater police records indicate that on December 12, 2014, Hill was arrested on complaints of assault of his 20-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Crystal Espinal. The police report states that the two got into an argument and he threw her around like a ragdoll, punched her in the face, sat on her and repeatedly punched her in the stomach, and choked her.[76] Oklahoma State dismissed him from the football team after the charges.[77] ”

In March 2019, Hill was investigated for alleged battery after an incident in which his three-year-old son sustained a broken arm”

A cheeta doesn’t change his spots. He’s a fucking animal.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

“Mahomes has been the Chief’s leading rusher.” LOLLL!

KNOWITALL's avatar

I’m watching the game, you guys. Not judging every act or human on the field. Relax for a night.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

My DIL texted. My son couldn’t care less about the game, but Grampa’s girl, Zoey, is watching the game on the computer down stairs with big brother Jay. She said “We gotta support Grampa’s team!”
My son got a glimpse of the half time antics and called it “Booty Shaking Llamas.” LOL! I hope 6 year old Zoes doesn’t play Booty Shaking Llamas at school!

zenvelo's avatar

Ugh. Congrats KC.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Rick is over the moon!

Darth_Algar's avatar

But the more important question is who would win in a game between Mike Ditka and God?

zenvelo's avatar

@Darth_Algar So far, Ditka is winning.

KNOWITALL's avatar

They did it!!!! Super Bowl Champs!
(Dances with @Dutchess and Rick.)

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Dancing DANCING DANCING!!!!

At least one touchdown !

@Tropical_Willie

50 years later, and congrats to the Chiefs again! I can hear Hank Stram’s ghost: “Way to go, Patty baby! Keep punchin’ it in there!”

I also enjoyed watching a Patriots-free Super Bowl, for the first time in 4 years.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Someone call me?

LostInParadise's avatar

Anybody surprised that Trump congratulated the wrong state? I would have given odds of at least 50%.

Brian1946's avatar

@LostInParadise

Apparently none of the House managers got around to Trump’s geographical gaffe. ;-)

As I suspected, he thinks Kansas City is in Kansas. I’m sure he’ll correct himself and congratulate Missouri City for their perfect win.

Either that, or he’ll get a US map and use a magic marker, to “prove” that Kansas City really is in Kansas. ;-)

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Brian1946 We don’t care. Many people get confused on KC, KS and KC, MO. Even people who live in both states. Not a big deal, considering he’s been under constant attack for the last 3+ years.

Brian1946's avatar

I don’t think the enjoyment of anyone who was rooting for the Chiefs to win their second Lombardi, is going to be diminished by his misplaced congrats. He could have just said something to congratulate the KC Chiefs, without subconsciously lurching to that geographic conclusion.

Nobody in this thread has claimed to be a “stable genius”, and yet none of us has congratulated the state of Kansas.

I’m happy for KC, regardless of its exact location. I don’t think it’s a big deal either. I would say that to @LostInParadise and me, it’s perhaps just mildly amusing.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Brian1946 Meh, just another way for ya’ll to get your digs in. Petty and inconsequential, per usual.

ragingloli's avatar

You have to admit, he is the most divisive president since washington.

Brian1946's avatar

@ragingloli

I have NO problem admitting that.

Dutchess_III's avatar

We expect the President of the United States to be smarter than the average citizen. We expect the President of the United States to be intimately familiar with the geography of the country he governs.

Darth_Algar's avatar

As the President he should be familiar with the geography of the country. As a man who once made a bid to become an owner in the NFL he should know what city and state a given team is based in.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I think he knows, but throws those things out to make DEM’s heads throb. As soon as he is away from cameras and mikes, he does a happy little stompy stomp and giggles like an eight year old girl.

Dems are having ulcers, migraines, and heart attacks. All the way he is doing the happy dance to a second term.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

No @Patty_Melt. He’s simply that stupid.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@PattyMelt haha! Wouldn’t that be a hoot?!

It’s a common mistake we hear all the time, from smart people, too. If you say Kansas City in any context, we reply KS or MO?

Patty_Melt's avatar

I have family in Olathe. I’m familiar with the misconceptions.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Well in Kansas, if they refer to Kansas City we assume KCK because they specify if they’re talking about KCM.
Is it the opposite with you KNOWITALL? Do you assume KCM unless they specify KCK?

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_lll With locals, yes. I’d ask a tourist to clarify.
