Your concern is understandable. There is no way for any of us to be sure how accurate the information is.
A lot depends on how well stocked your hospitals are of testing kits. It is suspected that the symptoms are not extreme for some people who might spread the virus without realizing they have it.
If you have hand sanitizer, use that. Wash your hands before touching your face. Doctors recommend a full twenty seconds with soap and warm water each time you wash. They also stress to be sure you wash your fingertips well.
People are being urged to avoid being in a crowd when you can, such as sporting events, theaters, malls, etc.
If you are careful to follow all the advice, you have a much better chance of avoiding the virus.

I know it is scary. Try to keep calm. Keep in touch with us, and let us know how it goes for you.

Everything that I have found indicates only 20 reported cases. Just guessing, I’d say there are probably a few more that haven’t been reported due to the distrust of the DOH. At the same time, I’d still suggest that you do what is necessary to stay safe & healthy. Staying home is one way to NOT be around someone who might have it & not yet know it. I’ve never been a world traveler, so not traveling to infected countries isn’t a problem for me!!!

Is the Philippine government known for its truthfulness and full disclosure on other matters?

<I have read that your president is a pathological liar>.

I doubt you are hearing the truth.

It is believed in our country, the USA, that there are far more cases than are reported due to the lack of proper testing and poor managment. It is quite likely that that is true in the Philippines as well.

It has been reported that even with their high numbers that China is under reporting their cases, so I think that world wide that the numbers are significantly higher.

Proximity to China makes me assume there will be more cases in the Philippines but hoorah if the virus isn’t spreading as fast as other places with lots of cases like Italy.

Also, what is the pattern of the Philippine government when it comes to addressing serious situations like this?

I just read there are 24 cases in the Philippines (3/9/2020, 1:30 pm EST). I’m betting the number is way higher.

I do not know if you should believe it or not.
What will you do if you find out that there are many more cases of that flu in your country?

Guys! The number rise up to 35 from 20 TODAY! :((

It is enough to make you nervous. I can sure understand that! Do the best you can to protect yourself, and try not to obsess over the numbers.
Try to think forward to when it is all over and our worst fears can be the Riddler, the Joker, the Penguin again. I’m keeping you in my thoughts.
