Wouldn’t it be nice if there’s an American President during this pandemic who announces this crisis will never happen again in America and then lays out a realistic plan?

Anyone, president or not, who says that a crisis will never happen again in America is dumber than you imagine the current president is, and is playing you for a fool as well.

In a perfect world perhaps but in reality it isn’t.

It would be a lie. No one can predict what flu mutations will come in the future.

Better that we should be more prepared for the effects of a future epidemic. But that takes thought, expertise, and money, and those seem to be in very short supply.

Yes, it would be nice; however, I fear that it’s an unrealistic dream. The one thing I know for sure is that politicians will promise you anything and deliver as little as possible when the time comes

Would be nice to have a leader setting that impossible goal for himself or herself as starting point.

With all the brain and financial resources here in the US. Not to mention Americans’ strong will and determination to overcome. Or has that already gone into extinction?

@josie took the words out of my mouth.

“Would be nice to have a leader setting that impossible goal for himself or herself as starting point.”

I believe that when one enters Politics that is what most wish to be but corruption and power overtake them and they get greedy for more.

How can anyone protect themselves from an unknown, unseen, never before seen assailant? You can protect yourself from some threats all of the time and all of the threats some of the time, but you can’t protect yourself from all of the threats all of the time.

It might be nice, but it would most certainly be dishonest.

You had a president setting impossible goals. Are you enjoying the results?

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five — and those people are all recuperating successfully.”

Feb. 10: “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April.”

Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA…Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

Feb. 26: “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time.”

Feb. 26: “And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

Feb. 26: “I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”

Feb. 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”

March 9: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

March 10: “And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”

Had he been asked, trump would have made such a promise in 2016. Now in 2020 he’s saying that nobody could have known

The premise of this post is so deluded that Josie has already posted what I would post as a reply.
