How can I recover my passwords on Firefox?

I use Fire Fox and always have.
Just last week I noticed I no longer have ANY stored sign ins and passwords.
Have tried multiple times going to options, make sure to :save log ins” and “passwords” and, “auto fill in” are checked – they are.
Still this feature does not work.
How can I fix this problem?
Do not want to use the LockWise – new on last Fire Fox update – or a master password.
Am really desperate to fix this issue.
