I have had people copy my work and it is unpleasant to say the least, not to mention enraging as they are profiting from my efforts without my permission.
There are plenty of people out there who want something for nothing and think they are entitled to other’s efforts without doing a f’n thing to earn it.
One can always sue them.
The last thing I sold along with giving up the copyright to it was a painting to a gallery.
I am alright with that and they can do what they want with that image.

@lucillelucillelucille: Not if they abused that right, that is, the remix was almost unrecognizable from the original video with copyrights. (see videos above). And anyway, I know about suing for 4 times, and, if you fail all 4, lose your entire channel. That’s exactly what happened to him.

@luigirovatti -I confess to not watching both videos in their entirety. If he can’t sue and win, what more can he do?
You say that the remix was almost unrecognizable from the original video.
I imagine that is why he lost.
People can change someone’s original artwork by a certain percentage and it would be deemed a “new” creation.

Oh, okay, I imagine that is a problem.

@luigirovatti -I cannot remember the percentage but I think it is fairly low 10% comes to mind but don’t quote me.
When I had a photography class in college, we were advised to take model releases along in case you were going to photograph any people.
If your photos were to be published and someone saw their image without signing over permission, you could be sued.
Now, everyone has some form of camera and takes photos of everything. and everybody-with or without permission.
I wonder if there are a lot of lawsuits?
I ask if I can photograph a person (I’m talking about friends and family) because I like to be asked as well.

Music companies have been screwing the little guy since the day I was born. It sounds like they are bitter that they lost their last attempt & have just found a new way to screw the little guy!!! They know the little guy either doesn’t have the money to sue them or the brains to figure out how to get over on them unless they can get a damn good lawyer. They depend on NO money to sue!!! It should be illegal & it probably is but this YT guy will be dead & gone before it is finally straightened out!!!

Now that YT has gotten so big that they NO longer NEED their contributors, things WILL get worse!!! I keep hoping that someone will come up with another similar video creating platform that can compete with them. I know a few tried but I no longer hear anything about them.

They are weak and feeble. I just shine them on.
I don’t make money on YouTube and don’t want to. I make videos and put them on YouTube to share with my friends.
Sometimes I’ll put music in my videos (that I bought) and YouTube will send me a copyright violation notice. But nothing ever becomes of it. Sometimes I get a copyright violation notice from a video that I put on YouTube many months earlier. HA! Whatever.

@luigirovatti After watching the 2 vids you provided, I received this recommendation today from YT where he apologized for being wrong & tells us how his problem was solved.

I just never do youtube as it’s too much work and I’ve heard and seen too many horror stories. I don’t need that kind of stress. I only watch what others put up for viewing that gives me pleasure

This just happened: An acquaintance told me that she was going to use a photo I took to create art that she is going to submit to a gallery show.
I told her that I was flattered but to please not do that as it is my work.
She was good about it but I am wondering how the hell she doesn’t know about this stuff.
