Too many. I have had a host of medical issues in my life that have necessitated having complete work ups before treatment options could be explored. That’s probably why I’m so cavalier now about “should get a physical if you’re this age or that demographic” now.

Yes many times.

Yes, once a year.

@canidmajor -I definitely have that attitude about them.

I had a physi“complete” physicals with blood work every 5 years from age 40 until age 56 when I had blood work that finaly included a PSA test that indicated an “issue”. PSA of 18. 22 when repeated a couple of weeks later.
Those were my first PSA tests. My doctor always sited an “European study” that indicated there was no reason to give a PSA test to someone with no history, and no problems of any kind. “Screening tests only save about one person in 1000 but result in needless worry and can lead to unnecessary treatment.” \
Well I was one of those one in 1000. Had my prostate cancer been diagnosed earlier – before it reached up to 70% involvement- my treatment could have been a lot easier with fewer side effects.
Guys, If you are having blood work done for a complete physical make sure the PSA box is checked. Advocate for yourself.

Yes especially as it was a given to obtain life insurance.
Did this years ago.

@LuckyGuy -My brother went through similar events.(prostate)
The other got finished with treatments last year for the time being.(non-hodgkins lymphoma)
I hope you are well.

Every year. @LuckyGuy I get a PSA test every single year and have been since I was about thirty. My dad and granddad on dads side had it. Not looking good for my Y chromosome.

@lucillelucillelucille That is ancient history now. I get a diagnostic PSA every year to make sure there is no recurrence. Fortunately, the odds of that happening are almost zero at this point. It has been longer than 10 years with my PSA readings at zero. I’m good.

@ARE_you_kidding_me It’s great that you are keeping on top of this. Too many guys haven’t a clue and only find out when it’s too late. Do you keep a spread sheet or plot of your data, too? :-)

Inside and out.
I have had all sorts of pictures of places nobody wants to see. I am amazingly pink throughout, even my smoker lungs!
I’ve had enough blood drawn to feed a gaggle of vampires.
I know the discomfort of plate glass.

@lucillelucillelucille I’m guessing mammograms.

@canidmajor – Been there, forgot that.

Well..after Rick and I ran the small engine business for almost 5 years…and he finally agreed to get an outside job that included benefits..what was the question…?

Dutchess_lll's avatar

OK. Anyway when he got that civilized job the first thing I did, I hauled butt to a doctor’s office for a random check, after 4+ years of no insurance. It was just a check up.
They never got past the standard blood pressure check.

nightwolf5's avatar

I get my physical check up once a year from my Dr. yes. All has been fine with them so far. I just don’t get the prostate exam yet because I am not old enough to need it, but yes it’s complete for what I need.

Yep. In the Army and then again when I got a CDL. Lots of ball grabbing, turn your head and cough and bend over and spread em.
