Expressing love makes people feel vulnerable; expressing hatred makes them feel powerful.

I would like to hug you & ride ponies at the beach together for asking this…love it!

I can only imagine why some are wired like that, but I don’t want to waste energy on them.
These types are nowhere in my inner circle & it will stay that way forever.

I liken their attitude to people who never give credit or due praise to anyone but are the first ones to pour scorn & throw insults around.
I loathe that way of being, a complete mystery to me.

They lack Emotional maturity and Emotional Intelligence and take the immature way out by using anger instead of understanding an opponents view.

@Demosthenes Inwardly, they might feel more powerful but outwardly they look fearful and unhinged, IMO.

They’ve been burned by love.

Because as others pointed out love opens up vulnerability and weakness, where they think hate shows strength and power.

In my experience, some families and generations just weren’t very demonstrative and they passed that down. I was once told that being too emotionally demonstrative was in poor taste, you should strive for an even keel and keep affection light-hearted.

What truly upsets me is the number of households that don’t use ‘I love you’, especially when children are raised there. My half siblings said they never heard it at home. So sad.

Hate is a simple, cheap reflex that requires no effort, love takes thought, work and understanding. Real love also requires a little humbleness as well. The act of not hating requires much of the same things love takes.

@Patty_Melt Awww such a cutie!

One of my favorite movies about love, was Dead Poet Society when Robin Williams breaks down about his dead wife. Very touching, especially in a movie about men/ emotions, etc..

I haven’t watched that in a long time.
Time to load it.

@Patty_Melt Same. Made me cry.

Because they feel that they can’t truly be themselves without upsetting certain people that may be around, fear of going against what others believe, and not ready to say how they really feel while facing those who look down upon them..
