I like quite a few musicals, but I don’t think I have a favorite song.

Unless, maybe, you include opera, in which case, maybe this duet from Carmen.

(Here is a clearer recording.)

If Bohemian Rhapsody was from a musical, that.
But alas, there is no such thing.
Maybe this Cats parody song

Yes, the musical could be either a stage play or movie, anything goes!

Some of my favorites include:

“Prima Donna” from Phantom of the Opera. Love it because it’s written like one of those confusing sextets of the bel canto era and further evidence that Phantom is one of the most opera-like musicals.
“Side by Side” from Company
“Cabaret” from Cabaret
“All that Jazz” from Chicago
“I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables

Hard to pick just one. :D

Frozen, Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway. haha!
Grease I and II.
I’ve seen many stage musicals that were lovely, but none stand out as favorites.

Somewhere

And since tomorrow is Bastille Day, even though this is not about the French Revolution, Do you Hear the People Sing?

I don’t know if I can pick just one.

Rainbow High from Evita https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MguxA61ZtZ8 Madonna was fantastic in the movie in my opinion and the entire song track is good.

Maria from the movie West Side Story. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DyofWTw0bqY

Mama Mia! But that’s all just ABBA. My favorite is probably Voulez Vous, but that’s the dance club girl inside of me. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=alhVUKh36_Q

Love HMS Pinafore songs too. The sailors singing. I don’t remember all the songs actually, it was from childhood.

This is truly “my genre”. So, it is very very difficult to limit these, but I’ll try.
Keys from “Fun Home”
Revolting Children from “Matilda”
A New Argentina from “Evita”
Corner of the Sky from “Pippin”
See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You from “Tommy:On Broadway”
NYC from “Annie”

Okay so after posting all these i realized it’s not just the song, but the performances.
(Which all the videos are of)
Sue me, I’m a theater “kid”.

A Puzzlement performed by Yul Brenner in the King And I. He was a smoking hot king, but that song fits not only the character very well, but I think most adults feel the same a few times through life. Yul’s staunch demeanor through the performance made it so memorable.

I Feel Pretty performed by Natalie Wood in West Side Story.
I like it because it is just so cheery.

Interesting coincidence, Rita Moreno was in both movies. She is amazing. I saw her on a talk show last year. She is still just spicy as ever.
