Why would a person spoil a Birthday suprise?

Asked by Ferc21 (4points) July 17th, 2020

2 years in row 2 different people have told me about a Birthday suprise. What type of person does that? Any why would someone do this?

They are assholes. And they have fragile egos and trying to show they are “in the know”.

The only way to stop them is to call them out for being assholes that ruined your birthday.

Because they’re the same ones who suck the life out of the room when they enter.
You know…spunktrumpets!

Awww, that’s not very nice. I’d be pissed, however…I gotta ask, have you ever expressed to these two bananas that you don’t enjoy surprises? If you had, they might think they’re doing you a favor.

Are you someone who enjoys and appreciates a surprise? If yes, it seems mean-spirited to ruin your birthday surprise.

I have known people who do that, out of concern that a surprise like that might distress the surprisee. They think that the person might prefer to be prepared, dressed a little batter, not completely kerflummoxed. I have only known people who do that because they care.

Was it an event or a present? If an event, they really might have been trying to do you a favor. To me it sure would be. I have a long-standing pact with a friend never to let each other get blind-sided by a “surprise” event.

If it ruined the surprise of a special present, though, that seems kind of mean. I would just ask them, “Why in the world did you do that?” We here, of course, don’t know.

There are multiple variables, here…

1 A. Some people, are just assholes.

1 B. Maybe they are jealous, of nobody giving them a birthday surprise.

2. Safety.

2 A. As mentioned above, the person could experience, a health issue, with a surprise.

2 B. A well armed, paranoid, person, could kill a room full of friends…

3. Depends on the surprise….

They knew you were sensitive about your age and wanted to shield you.
They wanted to enable your denial.

Maybe they can’t keep a secret. Who knows what their logic was, at the time. Why don’t you ask them? Let us know what they say.
