I had a ground house tent
I would sleep in there.
No birds flew in, just bugs.

@lucillelucillelucille I only slept out in a tent once. Was in a friend’s garden no more than 5mins walk away from where I lived.

I say slept, I chickened out after the worst hour of my young life listening to bugs & creepy night noises. I ran home & tucked myself into my nice warm safe bed…no, I’m not proud lol

@ucme -XD I camped out more as an adult.
It was a lot of fun until I came to my senses. I don’t miss rocks and sticks in my back and waking up with a bunch of spiders trying to escape a torrential downpour.
Pop up campers are a little better until the park ranger comes by to inform of mama bear & cubs.“Don’t get between them!” Thanks for the tip.
Then there are the drive able ones.
My sister stuck me up above the driver’s seat to sleep.
I woke up to the neighbors staring at my purple pajama butt pressed against the window.Delightful.
This sums up howI feel about camping. —Today, at least—XD

@lucillelucillelucille Hahaha!
Camping is so overrated.
We went as a family a while back, if you witnessed me trying to put up a big arse tent in high winds you’d have wet yourself laughing :D

It was like something out of a disaster movie, a nearby oak tree wears it as a coat to this day!

When I was 8 or 9 we lived next door to a wooded lot. My friends and I built a “tree fort” that was little more than a few boards nailed to branches.

I have only seen fancy tree houses where one had room to sleep on TV shows and in movies.

@ucme I saw that tree on “Escape to the Country”.
We were always setting up camp in the dark. Big fun, right there.

Some 2 by 4’s across the branches, couple of nails into branch. Never slept in it

We had one. It was more of a platform in a tree. Never slept in it, but did jump from it to another tree. That became entertainment for the neighborhood at one point. Even when someone missed and fell the 10’ or so to the ground, it didn’t stop us.

My buddies and I built it. One time I fell out. My hand broke my fall. Knocked me out. My Mom asked me who slapped me? I couldn’t remember anything. My friend said that the hand mark was made from falling out to the tree house. HA!

Never slept in the tree house.

Mine was a platform too. It was in an apricot tree. It is the only apricot tree I ever saw that big. I napped on it a couple of times. We could sit there and snack healthy. It was where I played pirate. It was my crow’s nest. There was a huge sandpile below it. Dad drove a gravel truck, and one day he backed through the yard and dumped four tons of sand there. It was the beach where we dug for buried treasure. The cats were good enough to keep burying new treasures regularly.

I didn’t, but I had friends with treehouses. I thought they were so cool. We would just climb up, stay a short time, and come back down.
