Yes..

I live in Portland and up until Trump went dictator the protest were pretty much people hanging out with signs in a few blocks and nobody gave a shit. They were so boring they had to scour footage of Ukraine to make it seem like a big deal.

But I guess he is going all “law and order” while 1000 people died today from a preventable thing.

And we have idiots here lapping it up. There is no crisis. The white people are safe in Portland.

He wants footage for his ads for his base of how he quelled the “terrorists.” And yes, he is a master at deflection.

Absolutely. And if you think many of his loyal followers will see through it and maybe not vote for him in November, here’s a quote from one of them (from wbur.org today about Trump supporters in Massachusetts):

“Trump said three things he was going to do,” Algarin says. “Look out for the U.S.; bring more jobs back to the U.S.; and he was going to build the wall. He has done everything he has said he was going to do. To me, that’s someone who should be re-elected.”

I added the bold for emphasis. Talk about a reality distortion field.

Most definitely!!!

Yes.
And it is also very likely that he wants his gestapo in place in those liberal cities, so he can prevent them from voting come november.
You know, engage in some overt election fraud, now that he learned that he knows he can get away with it.

Yes. Tragically, this reality TV show being produced by the reality TV host in the WH aided by his equally corrupt crew for the sake of his ratings, has real-life consequences for America as a nation.

You all know Obama actually signed this bill into law right?

On December 26, 2013, President Barack Obama signed the bill into law.

National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, Pub.L. 112–81. This NDAA contains several controversial sections (see article), the chief being §§ 1021–1022, which affirm provisions authorizing the indefinite military detention of civilians, including U.S. citizens, without habeas corpus or due process, contained in the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), Pub.L. 107–40.[8]

@KNOWITALL Nobody ever said Obama was an angel who never did anything wrong. It’s still a shit law and it’s being shittily deployed right now.

@janbb And they’re still continuing to pass it ‘without the support of a single Republican.’

July 12, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House passed H.R. 2500, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 by a vote of 220 to 197, without the support of a single Republican. Upon passage, Chairman Smith (D-WA), of the House Armed Services Committee, made the following remarks:

“For the 59th straight year, members of the House upheld our constitutional duty to provide for the common defense by passing the NDAA. Following months of bipartisan collaboration with our colleagues, the Democratic-controlled House presented the most progressive NDAA in a decade. Not only does this NDAA and its provisions keep our nation safe, but it honors the values of our country, strengthens our security, and advances America’s leadership in the world.’
....
“I am proud that House Democrats stood together in the face of partisan rhetoric while, unfortunately, our Republican colleagues turned their backs on the men and women who defend our nation, and instead choose to use them as political pawns.’

The Dems may have passed it & the Reps did support it. They didn’t need to put their name on it because the knew that it would pass without their votes. They knew that some righty would claim that they didn’t support it!!! Now tell me…WHO were the first to abuse it??? Even during the riots throughout the 1960’s, the Federal troops weren’t dispatched to do a job that belonged to the states & that included DC. We came out the other side better for it!!! All I heard from my Rep friends is how the government needed to stay out of states’ business & let the states run their own government. Now those same people are saying that it’s the government’s job to interfere where they don’t belong!!!

@KNOWITALL But what happened when the bill went to the Senate? It wouldn’t be law unless McConnell brought it to a vote and the Republicans passed it, would it? I truly don’t know but that seems so.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@janbb It finally passed again (Fiscal year 2020) and became law. Trump signed off. He got $738 billion in military allocations and Space Force out of the deal from what I’m reading.

Wiki-
The NAA passed the House by a vote of 377–48 and the Senate by a vote of 86–8 and became effective on December 20, 2019 when it was signed into law by President Donald Trump.[2]

Here’s a brief overview of the process, also in the link right above with the votes:

This was a vote to pass H.R. 2500 in the House. The federal budget process occurs in two stages: appropriations and authorizations. This is an authorization bill, which directs how federal funds should or should not be used. (It does not set overall spending limits, however, which are the subject of appropriations bills.) Authorizations are typically made for single fiscal years (October 1 through September 30 of the next year) but are often renewed in subsequent law.
