Oodles here in the US, Europe, China, and Iceland.

I went to art college right next door to both Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and the Gardner Museum. My other local favorites include the Boston Museum of Science, John F Kennedy Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art, MIT’s List Museum, Children’s Museum, USS Constitution Museum, and the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Been to each dozens of times.

My faves from outside Boston include;

New York
Guggenheim Museum
MOMA
Museum of Natural History

D.C.
Smithsonian…
National Air & Space Museum
National Museum of Natural History

The Newseum (closed now)

Paris
The Louvre

Italy
Too many to list

Reykjavik
Phallological Museum

Beijing
Forbidden City Museum

London
Design Museum

Plus a ton of small galleries I’ve wandered into while my wife and daughter shop.

Visited just before COVID-29:
Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

On my current wish list is the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York. They converted a retired Aircraft Carrier into a floating museum.

Oh, and there are the houses, such as the Steinbeck House, Salinas, California, and the Dorothy Quincy House, Quincy, Mass. I don’t know how many of those. Some stately homes in England and Scotland too.

Hats off to anyone who can tell me they’ve visited the Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, California. I’ve driven past it a hundred times and often said, “Gotta stop in there one of these days.”

I forgot to say my favorites.

One I completely forgot to mention is the Morse museum in Winter Park, FL. It houses an amazing amount of works done by Tiffany. I love that museum. Here’s a link http://mobile.morsemuseum.org/on-exhibit There is a chapel room where the entire alter is made from Tiffany glass, I love just sitting in there. Also huge Tiffany windows, the famous daffodil terrace, beautiful. The items were going to be destroyed, it’s amazing these pieces of art still exist. Short video preview https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xy5BkIUfwDs

Other favorites:
The Plant museum (Henry Plant) https://www.plantmuseum.com/

FDR Museum

Clinton Museum

Holocaust Museum (DC) Because it’s done so well, but the subject matter I can only take so much, so not a museum I visit again and again

Metropolitan Museum of Art.

So museums many are so good.

I have been to countless museums all over the world, and it is impossible for me to list a favorite. I currently have a membership at SFMOMA.

If a gun were to my head and I had to pick a favorite, I would pick the two museums that have made me cry. One was the Royal Observatory at Greenwich where they have restored to working order the Harrison clocks, and the other is the National Air and Space Museum in Washington where they have on display a piece of anorthosite collected by the Apollo astronauts.
