Does Apple get a cut of eBay sales made via its iOS application?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) August 18th, 2020 from iPhone

In the current environment I was wondering if such a huge market place gets to do business on iphones without Apple taking a cut.

There is an app for Android too, the app is eBay’s it is not an Apple or Android owned app.

I’m assuming you’re asking because Epic is upset that Apple are taking 30% of their sales? Have you wondered why they aren’t doing the same to Sony and Microsoft who take 30% of the sales on PS4 and Xbox including physical sales?

No, apple doesn’t get a cut. It also doesn’t get a cut from Amazon. It only wants a cut of digital goods.

@johnpowell Is exactly correct. Apple only takes a percentage of digital goods/services. That excludes the buying/selling of physical goods like eBay sells.
