What happens when you don't scratch an itch? (NSFW)

Anywhere from head to toes? Is it possible not to scratch?

The itch will go away eventually.

Why is this NSFW unless you are using “itch” as a metaphor for something else?

@zenvelo Is NSFW because it is including private itchy parts.

You die from itchiness.

Really it depends on the source of the itch.

Mosquito bite or spider bite – annoying but will go away over time and stop itching.

Jock itch from fungus on your crotch – won’t go away and can lead to festering sores and all sorts of other bad stuff.

So the itch source matters.

@kritiper Is in general because I want a real answer.

Like @elbanditoroso said, it really does depend on the source. If it’s caused by an underlying serious condition and it is not taken care of, yes you could. But scratching it in that situation would most likely make things worse.
