Would you agree that the popularity of chicken wings is solely the result of marketing by the fast food industry?

They are tiny, and while the meat on them is not terrible, there is barely any meat on them, and most of them is bones anyway.
They are effectively barely a step above trimmings, and I am certain that if the fast food chains could effectively brainwash people into eating the innards of the bird, they would.

And chicken wings in the supermarket are often more per pound than breasts, thighs and drumsticks.

I was eating BBQ’d chicken wings soaked for 2 hours in Italian dressing before putting on grill 60 years a ago.

You speak as if eating innards hasn’t gone on for as long as carnivorism has existed in animals (humans included).

My experience with chicken wings was that there were only a couple bars in the area that actually served chicken wings. They became very popular as a bar food. Pretty soon, every bar with a kitchen was cranking them out, all trying to out-do the competition. As far as why they got so popular…they were very cheap and could be made in a great variety of flavors and were easy to eat and share at the bar.

I can purchase big chicken wings , not the small ones you sometimes see in restaurants /bars.

Yes, gross. You can’t eat the bulk of the wing so you’re gnawing on animal joint? Hard pass.

KFC used to offer chicken livers. They were great but apparently not popular enough to keep them on the menu. I’m not sure if that makes your poi8nt or refutes it.
